Research on Inanimation was briefly conducted by the Space Pirates during their Tallon IV operations prior to the events of Metroid Prime. The attempt to utilize inanimate objects on Tallon IV led to Project Titan, wherein a pile of rocks was infused with Phazon ore. This created Thardus. Pirate logs indicate that more research was to be done, but Thardus proved to be too violently unstable for continuing the efforts.
