Ingworm Cache

Each Ingworm Cache is a type of hive that consists of an item completely wrapped in a writhing ball of Ingworms. They are used by the Ing Horde to store items for the war effort against the Luminoth. Samus can destroy them to gain the item they hold using any of her weapons (although, being Ing, the creatures are especially vulnerable to the Light Beam). They are only encountered in the Ing Hive and Sky Temple. If seen at close range, it appears they are levitating slightly.

Some Ingworms are bred and mutated to gigantic sizes in order to prevent intruders from accessing areas of high importance to the Ing.
