Insects are a species of small life form on ZDR. They appear in the background of several rooms in Cataris, Ghavoran and Elun, crawling along surfaces. In Cataris, specifically, they can be seen crawling directly outside two E.M.M.I. Zone Doors.
Normally, they cannot be viewed up close, and they do not return on subsequent visits to each room. They cannot be harmed by Samus, and in turn she cannot destroy them. Their model reveals that they have round bodies with multiple spikes. Because they appear normally in Elun, it is unlikely that they were affected by the X Parasites.
