Jovia XII is a subject mentioned in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. According to Galactic Federation Datafile GD-202, Jovia XII is known for its biomorphs, which possess a similar metamorphic ability to the Bounty Hunter Gandrayda.

Theories[]

Based on the Roman numerals in its name, which are shared with known planets in the Metroid series such as Tallon IV and Bes III, Jovia XII is likely a planet. However, much like Aliehs III and Wotan VII, it is never explicitly referred to as such, and could be following an old naming convention for moons.

The term "biomorph" refers to something that resembles an organism. In Metroid canon, it is used sparingly to refer to beings capable of changing their shape, such as Trace and Gorea. The ambiguous syntax of Datafile GD-202, which only refers to "the biomorphs of Jovia XII", could be alternatively interpreted as meaning Jovia XII itself is an entity capable of biomorphing.

Jovian steel, which is also mentioned in Corruption, could originate from Jovia XII (or another Jovia celestial body) based on its similar name. However, "Jovian" also refers to the planet Jupiter.

Trivia[]

  • Jovia is a feminine name of Latin origin meaning "happy".
