Got it!

—K.G. Misawa

K.G. Misawa (ケイジ・ミサワ Keiji Misawa?) was one of Adam Malkovich's Galactic Federation 07th Platoon Marines in Metroid: Other M.

Description

K.G. wears glasses and is described as being the recon scout of the 07th Platoon. He was ordered to scout the Residential Quarters. The name and physical appearance suggests that he is of Japanese descent.

After the post credits game, K.G. is listed in Samus' inventory as being missing, because the Federation could not find his body. This could be because the Deleter, shown in a cutscene after defeating the RB176 Ferrocrusher, had thrown another frozen soldier into Lava. Because the bodies of Lyle, Maurice, and James are accounted for, as well as Samus witnessing Anthony supposedly dying, and Adam sacrificing himself, this could only mean the frozen soldier was K.G.

Trivia

  • In the Japanese version, his name is simply Keiji, a Japanese name that is pronounced the same as "K.G." This dispels minor belief that K.G. is an acronym.
  • The last name "Misawa" may be a reference to the Japanese Professional Wrestling legend Mitsuharu Misawa. Mitsuharu Misawa tragically died while the game was in its final stages of programming. The surname Misawa may have been added as a tribute to the late wrestler, who prior to his death expressed his fondness for the Metroid series. [citation needed]
  • K.G. is the only 07th platoon member to be MIA under military protocol.
  • K.G. is the only 07th platoon member to not have his own "moment" within the game.
  • K.G. only speaks thrice in the game; in the briefing cutscene and the Exam Center when he receives his orders ("Got it!"), and when the soldiers discover the body of Lyle ("Hey! Come over here!").
  • K.G.'s death is similar to that of Ellen Ripley in the ending of Alien3, although hers was voluntary.
  • K.G is easily the shortest member of the 07th Platoon.
  • Even though K.G. Misawa was clearly incinerated (because of the other deceased soldiers' corpses being accounted for), there are some who are lead to believe that he was instead the Deleter, based solely on his MIA status on Samus' personnel screen.
  • It is unknown how K.G. gained access to the Bottle Ship Residential Area when asked to explore it: the only entrances are blocked by Desbrachian cocoons, which remain undisturbed until Samus enters the sector.
