Klaida[1] is a species in Metroid Dread.
Description[]
The Klaida is a quadrupedal creature with a bird-like head and large bright growths on its back. The species is present in Artaria and is a passive creature that slowly walks back and forth. It will not attack Samus if she approaches, and it will run away from her if she shoots at it, but it damages her on contact and causes knockback. The creature is rather weak, allowing Samus to inflict damage on any part of it.
When infected with an X Parasite after their release from Elun, Klaidas become much more aggressive. They will charge at Samus on sight, which can be countered with the Melee Counter.[2] This new behavior makes the Klaida similar to Armadigger and Takumaku, although the X-infected Klaida cannot turn around in mid-charge like these other quadrupal charging species.
