Samus scans a Dark Lift Crystal.
Lift Crystals are tools utilized by the Luminoth and later by Samus for exploration on Dark Aether in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. They are colored purple or white and must be energized by the Light Beam or Dark Beam to function, respectively. These crystals are attached to platforms and when energized, will either raise or lower quickly. They are said to have been used during the war by the Luminoth. All still function despite the Ing's attempts to demolish them.
