This is a list of rooms in Ferenia in Metroid Dread. Larger rooms have their own pages and are linked here. Most of these names are unofficial; such names will be highlighted in quotation marks.

Illuminated pool[]

Metroid Dread Grapple Beam

The "illuminated pool" is a small room leading into Ferenia's E.M.M.I. Zone. This entrance is placed on an upper ledge with a slight downward slope, and part of the ceiling slopes as well. The pool is in the center of the room and illuminated by sunlight shining through multiple windows on the back wall, hence the name. The wall is also covered in Chozo statuary. To cross the pool, a Grapple Point in the ceiling can be used. A small swarm of Yojimbee are present here.

Fresco hall[]

Main article: Fresco hall
Purple E.M.M.I

This chamber is the first room in Ferenia's E.M.M.I. Zone. Immediately upon entry, there is a Shutter Platform in the way, which closes if stepped on. The Flash Shift must be used to circumvent it. A Morph Ball tunnel is present underneath the platform, but is blocked by an E.M.M.I. Valve and therefore unable to be explored at first. In the background are two storage crates and two hanging cables, which sway slightly. One of the cables hangs to the floor and extends to the side wall, with the hanging portions of the cables casting a shadow on it.

Past the Shutter Platform is a large open chamber, with three Autool spawners above the rightmost wall. In the background are two streams of water flowing from open pipes. A bridge extends from the back wall into the chamber, with the very end of it usable as a platform. This portion is separated from the rest of the bridge by a barricade. Directly underneath the bridge, the floor slopes into two groups of four Pit Blocks, which lead to another chamber below.

Here, the water can be seen flowing downstream off of three ledges. The two streams combine into a third in the center of these ledges, flowing past a statue of a bowing Chozo. In the playable space, a wall with a fresco is present; after a cutscene, it is destroyed, with its rubble visible on the floor. Past it is a small zigzag-shaped alcove with two hanging cables and an elongated one, a pair of canisters and multiple large pipes in the background. This leads into the tunnel with the E.M.M.I. Valve. The sound of the waterfall is silenced in this portion of the room.

Reception[]

Reception

"Reception" is a small shaft located between the fresco hall and Quiet Robe's chamber. It is first explored off-screen, when Samus follows Quiet Robe through here into the chamber in which they have their conversation. Once he has been killed, and the Robot Chozo Soldier that killed him destroyed, Samus can exit back into this room. It is a short shaft with a single platform above the floor, which forms a ledge connected to a passage on the back wall. The passage, lined with a thin red carpet, is not an explorable path. On either side of the passage are a pair of statues of winged Chozo, with Mawkin tapestries to their sides.

Since it is not possible to go back through the fresco hall, Samus must grapple to a blue magnetic strip on the upper left wall to proceed out of the area. While Reception is devoid of enemies on the first visit, a Quetshocker takes up residence here once the X have been released.

Quiet Robe's chamber[]

Dread QuietRobe Height

"Quiet Robe's chamber" is a significant room in Ferenia. It appears in Metroid Dread. This chamber is found in lower Ferenia, and entered soon after Samus reaches the area. It only has one entrance, isolating it from much of the Chozo sanctuary. It appears to be domed, based on the shape of the wall and floor in the background. There is a large ledge on the left, connected to a ramp in the background. Besides the ledge, there are two higher platforms that are supported by a single buttress each. Hanging cables connect the two platforms, and wobble in the scenery, likely due to a slight wind from the open windows in the background.

The room's main feature is a central computer system of multiple holographic screens powered by a projector on the ceiling and surrounded by seven tall buttresses. While the projector remains on for the duration of Dread, emitting a blue light, the screens disappear after Samus returns from Elun.[1] To either side of the front of the projector are pieces of fallen debris; what caused them to fall and what they are part of is unknown.

Ventilation[]

Main article: Ventilation
Ferenia 3

"Ventilation" is a room in Ferenia. It appears in Metroid Dread. This room is a small chamber accessible after Samus Aran meets Quiet Robe. It consists of a mini tunnel with a powerful Fan blowing to the right, below a short shaft with multiple platforms attached to the wall in the background. On the upper left of "Ventilation" is an enclosed space with narrow gaps on top of and alongside it. Part of the floor above it has been ripped out and left tipped into the hole. Three Chozo Soldier shields, with their spears crossed behind them, are hung on the wall next to the Fans. The top of the room (above the enclosed space) features three Chozo Soldier statues and three banners with the Mawkin symbol woven into them. Another banner is present to the right of the enclosure, which curiously disappears after the X Parasites are released from Elun. Directly under the enclosure is an etching on the wall that depicts two Zebesians with their claws extended forward.

To get past the Fan, Samus must run towards it with her Speed Booster active, and then either Shinespark or Wall Jump upwards. The latter can allow her to enter the enclosed area and retrieve a Missile+ Tank if she is quick enough. The enclosure features a pair of Fake Blocks on its upper left corner, Boost Blocks along its left side, and Pitfall Blocks underneath it. A tricky Shinespark or Ball Spark is required to get through the Boost Blocks and reach the item; if the move fails, Samus will drop through the Pitfall Blocks and have to start over. The easiest method has Samus run in from the next room, quickly jump to the top of the enclosure, Bomb the Fake Blocks and Ball or Shinespark through the Boost Blocks. A demonstration of this technique can be viewed here.

While more difficult, it is also possible to gain a Shinespark by running towards the Fan, and then quickly reach the Boost Block wall before Ball Sparking into it. A demonstration of this technique can be viewed here.

Transport to Dairon West[]

Transport to Dairon West

"Transport to Dairon West" is an elevator room first visited after the death of Quiet Robe. It provides a shortcut to the next Network Station in Dairon, where ADAM briefs Samus. The elevator room is rather non-descript, save for the background fresco. It depicts the Mawkin in combat with Zebesians at an unknown point in time. One of the Mawkin is shown grabbing a Zebesian by the claw and forcing it to kneel. The other Zebesians are depicted falling, similar to the Thoha Chozo in another fresco elsewhere in Ferenia. The fresco also depicts Mother Brain.

Shuttle to Ghavoran[]

Ferenia 2

The "Shuttle to Ghavoran" is a long outdoor hallway in Ferenia. It contains a Shuttle leading to and from Ghavoran. Three Chozo Soldier statues, appearing to wear skirts, stand in front of the entrance, each with a red flag bearing the Mawkin symbol. As Samus approaches the entrance to the Ferenia facility, the camera zooms out on an angle. She can use the runway here as a means to build up speed for her Speed Booster, in order to get a Missile+ Tank in the next room.

Flooded Sanctuary[]

Flooded Sanctuary

The "Flooded Sanctuary" is a large room in Ferenia. It appears in Metroid Dread. This room is entered immediately after arriving in Ferenia via a Shuttle from Ghavoran. It is a large chamber with a lower half that is filled with water, hence the name.

The entrance is an automatic door with a spinning mechanism, which opens when approached. In immediate view from the entrance is a large, raised platform with a curved stairwell leading up to it in the background. Chozo statuary, a golden statue of a mysterious tusked creature, and tapestries bearing the Mawkin symbol are present in the background as well. Above the platform is a walkway with a narrow tunnel, partially lined with Pit Blocks. On either end of it are curved walls with windows showing the exterior of the Ferenia facility. Above Samus in the tunnel is a pair of Bomb Blocks; this is part of a notorious puzzle to obtain a Missile+ Tank (see below).

An alternate entrance from another room leads Samus into a concealed area with a Chozo Statue. The statue holds the Space Jump, a necessary upgrade for Samus's further progression. Once she collects it, Samus must drop into the flooded portion of the room, using the Grapple Beam to pull herself to blue magnetic strips. This is her only means of ascending in the water without the Gravity Suit. At the top, there is a Breakable Organic Block she can destroy to open up part of the floor in the sanctuary's main chamber, allowing her to return there.

In the background of this room's upper-right section, there is a faintly visible fresco that depicts Zebesian Space Pirates. It is a replica of part of a fresco near the western elevator to Dairon, depicting Zebesians standing in line, with one forced to kneel before a Chozo Soldier.

Network Station[]

Ferenia Network Station

Ferenia's only Network Station is visited when Samus returns to the area. She receives one Adam Briefing here, with the room being dark and locking her in until she has communicated with him.

The briefing is as follows:

"This area, Ferenia, appears to have been a sanctuary. The Mawkin conducted ceremonies and rituals here. Now it all lies in ruin.

It was likely destroyed in the chaos following the X's arrival. That would match what Quiet Robe said.

They have turned it into a hive. I have also detected the presence of an unusually powerful X.

Recall that the E.M.M.I. in this area could see through terrain and stun targets with an electric shot.

My sensors indicate this E.M.M.I. has been reactivated. We can assume that Raven Beak is behind this too. Make good use of the Phantom Cloak and you should have nothing to fear.

Be careful, Samus.

Niche[]

Niche Ferenia

The "niche" is a small chamber that can only be accessed through a Bomb Block-obstructed tunnel in the Flooded Sanctuary. It features a slope on the left wall, with an alcove in the wall above containing a Missile Tank. This is concealed by a Breakable Organic Block. Samus must destroy it with the Wave Beam, and carefully Space Jump up to the tank, taking care not to fall through either of the two Pitfall Block floors below her. Afterwards, Samus can take another tunnel into an enclosed part of the Sanctuary, which leads to Ferenia's west shaft. Notable background features in the room include a vertical pipe, a large window, and "spikes" lining the foreground of the floor.
