This is a list of rooms in Hanubia in Metroid Dread. Larger rooms have their own pages and are linked here. All of these names are unofficial; such names will be highlighted in quotation marks.

Shuttle to Ghavoran[]

Hanubia

The Shuttle to Ghavoran is the first room explored in Hanubia onscreen. It contains the Shuttle that takes Samus to upper Ghavoran. Parts of the rocky steppe that makes up the natural portions of Hanubia are visible from here, covered in perpetual rain. Multiple streams of runoff fall from the roof of the Shuttle into the foreground and background. One of the ceiling lights in the shelter flickers at regular intervals due to a short circuit.

During Samus's first visit, the red Chozo Soldier and Elite Chozo Soldier spy on her before they proceed into the next rooms when approached.[1] Other than this, the only inhabitants of the Shuttle room are a group of Light Insects above the platform to use the Shuttle.

Transport to Artaria[]

Hanubia-Artaria elevator entrance

"Transport to Artaria" is a room in Hanubia. It appears in Metroid Dread. Although it is not the first room shown in the game, it is one of the first that Samus Aran explores, albeit offscreen. There is a long elevator shaft in the back of this room, leading through Dairon and into Artaria's E.M.M.I. Zone.[2] The elevator is in the background and cannot be used for story reasons (see below). It is first re-entered through a large glass tube with noticeable damage, and sparks flickering from its top. On the left side of the tube, a pile of debris exists in the background, which appears to be the remains of a Chozo Soldier's armor along with five crates. On the right end is an Ammo Recharge Station near the exit. Most of the shaft is without platforms, necessitating use of the Space Jump or Shinespark to ascend it quickly. Near the top of the shaft is a table-shaped structure, with its left base made of Screw Attack Blocks and its center made of Boost Blocks. Its right base is indestructible.

Network Station[]

Hanubia Network Station
Hanubia Network Station Map

Map.

Hanubia's only Network Station is the third room visited during Samus's exploration of the area. She receives two Adam Briefings here; the first after her arrival, and the second once she has defeated the final E.M.M.I. In both events, the doors lock until she speaks to ADAM. The upper right door is permanently sealed from this end, as the next room features a Shinespark puzzle.

The first briefing is as follows:

"This area, Hanubia, is on the planet's surface. You've finally made it, Samus.

There is still a problem. Destroying the planet will eliminate the X parasites. But Raven Beak is unlikely to sit idly by as this happens. He will try to escape once he detects the danger.

Raven Beak's search for Metroid DNA poses a threat to the galaxy. He will never give up. The odds are still not in your favor. But you must end things here.

I am searching for his location. Return here later for an update.
"

The second briefing is as follows:

"Samus, you have manifested a new power. The speed with which you siphon energy is undoubtedly Metroid in nature.

The Metroid DNA inside you must have fully awakened. No doubt as a result of the many battles you have fought on this mission.

This tremendous power is the last thing you required to confront Raven Beak.

I have detected a fortress in the sky high above Hanubia. He must be there.

The time has come. Samus, fulfill your destiny.

Facility exterior[]

Main article: Facility exterior
Facility exterior

The "facility exterior" is a room in Hanubia. It appears in Metroid Dread. This room is directly outside the confines of the innermost facility in Hanubia, which contains the elevator leading down to Artaria. Since it is outdoors, the room is under heavy rainfall, as with much of the outer area, with at least one stream of constant water falling below. The exterior is divided into two floors, which are each accessible from different rooms, but not each other. The lower floor is entered first, initially appearing as a small corridor lined with a black substance, along which a Chozo Zombie walks. Past it is a group of Bomb Blocks embedded into a small tunnel.

The tunnel gives way to a low ledge with an open window in the background, emanating a greenish light. Under the ledge on the left wall is another tunnel obstructed by a Grapple Beam Block. When removed, this opens access to Hanubia's initial entrance. On Samus's first visit to the facility exterior, all she can do is remove this block and use it to access the entrance, and from there, Ferenia. The door to the next room is blocked by a Wave Beam Cover, and Samus does not have the Wave Beam at this point.

Once the Wave Beam is re-acquired and Samus returns to this room from the lower tunnel, the red Chozo Soldier that previously appeared in the background of the Shuttle to Ghavoran is present. It jumps from the background into the mentioned window, soon to be fought within the Hanubia E.M.M.I. Zone. Optionally, Samus can access the top room of this floor, which is a straight corridor with a high ledge, to obtain an expansion (see below).

Hanubia entrance[]

Main article: Hanubia entrance
Hanubia entrance

The "Hanubia entrance" is a room in Hanubia. It appears in Metroid Dread. The entrance is a large, enclosed room with multiple sections, including a short passage at the bottom. This gives way to a shaft with a ledge, which has a water spout in the background releasing constant runoff from the rain outside. Higher up this shaft is a ceiling made of Screw Attack Blocks, and a wall adjacent to the ledge with a thin gap in it. This is obstructed by a Grapple Beam Block that can only be removed from the other side, which is an enclosed chamber with a spinning dynamo on the wall connected to two pipes.

Above the Screw Attack Blocks is another wall gap that leads to a dead-end, in a tunnel with more of the same blocks underneath. That leads to a vertical tunnel lined with Bomb Blocks, before ending in a drop with another Bomb Block and another Screw Attack Block. Above these is another Grapple Beam Block with its grapple end in the next room.

Samus can visit this room early before exploring the rest of Hanubia, but she cannot proceed until the blocks are removed. After they are, it functions as a shortcut back to Ferenia.

"Transport to Ferenia" has an elevator to Ferenia. It is the first room that can be visited in Hanubia. It leads into the Hanubia entrance, which is a dead end until a Grapple Beam Block in there is removed from the other side. Four windows on the wall in the background show the rainstorm outside, and the storm is audible from in here as well.

Bioweapon Storage[]

Main article: Bioweapon Storage
Bioweapon Storage

"Bioweapon Storage" is a room in Hanubia. It appears in Metroid Dread. This room is located in the center of the Hanubia facility. It contains multiple stasis pods mounted on the walls and extending into the background, suggesting there are even more specimens. The creatures include at least two Takumaku, as well as an Armadigger, Batalloon, Depthorn, Gooplot and Nailong. One of the stasis pods is on its side on the ground, suggesting it fell over after being disturbed by something. A large cable under the Nailong's stasis pod runs along the floor and under the tipped-over pod. Above the ground is a ceiling consisting of Bomb Blocks. Above that is a platform, and this is itself underneath another ceiling of Power Bomb Blocks.

During Samus Aran's exploration of Hanubia, she tentatively steps into this room and examines the stasis pods. The one on its side contains a Takumaku, which breaks out after being agitated by Samus's presence. It rushes at Samus, but is Melee Countered. Suddenly, Samus's left hand flares up with a pink aura and her fingers twitch into a clawing position. Unsure of what is happening, Samus stares at the creature as it assesses what is going on. As the urge to siphon its energy intensifies, Samus instead finishes it off with a beam shot. She then examines her hand before standing still. While this happens, Raven Beak observes the scene remotely. Since the Takumaku did not release an X Parasite upon death, it would seem that none of the specimens kept in stasis here were infected by the X upon their release.

Once Samus regains Power Bombs, she can destroy the ceiling in this room and use an alternate exit into the "facility exterior". By running into it with her Speed Booster from here, she can acquire a Power Bomb Tank via a Shinespark.

Samus passes through this room one final time during the escape sequence; during this, parts of it are on fire or exploding and embers are emenating from the floor. The doors to the facility exterior have been permanently locked, forcing Samus to re-enter the E.M.M.I. Zone and continue from there. The room becomes inhabited by a swarm of Yojimbee, a Yampa and a Dredhed in a final, futile attempt by the X to stop Samus from leaving ZDR before it explodes. Once Samus leaves, it is possible to return to this room since the E.M.M.I. Zone Door does not lock, although doing so is rather pointless.

Final E.M.M.I. Zone foyer[]

Final E.M.M.I

The "final E.M.M.I. Zone foyer" is the first room in Hanubia's E.M.M.I. Zone. It appears in Metroid Dread. This is a large shaft divided into two floors, which can only be accessed from nearby rooms. It is initially entered via the lower floor, where the shaft is a short section with two outstretched ledges from either wall. In the background, a large tank is visible; it appears to have fallen from its side for unknown reasons. It is still attached to its holding post by three cables, suggesting it might be a battery of some sort. Also visible in the background are storage crates and multiple curved buttresses. This shaft leads directly into the room where Samus confronts both E.M.M.I.-07PB and the red Chozo Soldier.

Samus passes through the much smaller upper shaft after destroying both the E.M.M.I. and Soldier, via a tunnel in the Central Unit's room. Here the shaft is divided in half by an impenetrable wall, and a floor made of Bomb Blocks. Directly underneath these floors are a pair of ledges with enough space between them for the Morph Ball to fit. There are few unique features here, apart from the presence of hanging cords, a duct cover held by a group of cords, and six gate obstructions in the background. The upper floor offers a secondary exit to "Bioweapon Storage", the room from which the foyer is initially entered.

During the escape sequence, Samus passes through both floors of the shaft one final time, which are on fire. Like other rooms in Hanubia, it becomes populated with X-infected enemies making a desperate attempt to stop Samus from leaving ZDR. With her Hyper Beam, the Bomb Blocks become even easier to destroy. As Samus reaches the lower floor of the foyer, the left wall will explode, giving her a new path back to her Starship.

Hall of Judgment[]

Main article: Hall of Judgment
Hall of Judgment

The "Hall of Judgment" is a room in Hanubia's E.M.M.I. Zone. It appears in Metroid Dread. This is where Samus Aran confronts the final E.M.M.I., 07PB, and the penultimate Chozo Soldier. The "Hall of Judgment" is a small chamber adjacent to the E.M.M.I. Zone's entrance. Initially, it is an enclosed space within a glass tube, similar to that found in the Hanubia elevator shaft. Three large cables connect to a conduit in the ceiling in the background. When entered, the door locks permanently, forcing Samus to go around a long way to get back. As she approaches the right wall, a massive explosion detonates, weakening Samus. This will happen even if Samus has the Phantom Cloak enabled. The explosion destroys the walkway and damages the cables, causing them to fray and hang.

Samus collapses to the floor as E.M.M.I.-07PB enters through an E.M.M.I. Valve and stalks towards her. In a scripted sequence, it prepares to capture her, only for Samus to Melee Counter it. Once she has, her hand flares up with purple energy, as it did in a stasis room only minutes prior. Distracted by this, Samus does not notice E.M.M.I.-07PB recover and approach her again. Slamming her to the floor, it prepares to impale her with its needle, only for a desperate Samus to grab said needle and completely siphon the robot of its energy. Doing so also drains the Central Unit of the E.M.M.I. Zone despite Samus not making direct contact with it. Once drained, Samus kicks the robot off of her and to the side.

Standing up, Samus examines her hand and clenches it, causing the purple energy to dissipate. Suddenly, the red Chozo Soldier that Samus saw enter the Zone from the facility exterior appears from the background, and battles her. Samus manages to overpower the beast and drain its energy as well. Once she has, she walks over to the E.M.M.I. and absorbs the power-up it was carrying: the Power Bomb. The E.M.M.I. disintegrates and the E.M.M.I. Valve on the right wall opens, allowing Samus to leave.

Final E.M.M.I. Zone exit[]

Final E.M.M.I

The "final E.M.M.I. Zone exit" is a room in Hanubia. It appears in Metroid Dread, and is the final room of Hanubia's E.M.M.I. Zone. This room serves as an exit for the E.M.M.I. Zone, although it is the penultimate one visited. It is divided into two floors, with each only being accessible from neighboring rooms. The lower floor is an open chamber with six Autool generators on the upper walls and ceilings. These provide Samus an opportunity to replenish energy and Missile or Power Bomb Ammo she used in the battle with the Chozo Soldier immediately before. There are few remarkable features on the bottom floor, besides buttresses extending into the background and a fence to Samus's left. On the upper floor is a glass-encased walkway, with a noticeable bend near its center. By laying a Power Bomb, Samus will destroy the glass tube and open its top, allowing her to access the Central Unit room via a tunnel outside the walkway. The rubble from the bridge falls to the floor below, breaking apart and leaving a dent in the fence.

During the escape sequence, Samus passes through the exit one last time to get to the Central Unit's room. A small number of enemies attempt to stop her, although they are no match for her Metroid Suit or Hyper Beam.

Lower shipyard[]

Main article: Lower shipyard
Lower shipyard

The "lower shipyard" is a room in Hanubia. It appears in Metroid Dread. This is the first of two outdoor shipyards in Hanubia. It is the location of two Mawkin starships, which float in midair in the background. Additionally, the bow of the transport vessel that brought the E.M.M.I. to ZDR is visible in the low background. Aside from these, a number of storage crates are stacked on the floor in the background; their contents are unknown. Since the shipyard is outdoors, the ongoing rainstorm and lightning is visible; a roof over the room provides shelter from it. A Total Recharge Station is present in the lower right corner. The shipyard is divided into three floors, which partly consist of Power Bomb Blocks. When a Power Bomb is used to remove them, they remain destroyed and never respawn for the rest of the game. The only room the shipyard connects to is the exit of Hanubia's E.M.M.I. Zone through two doors.

During the escape sequence, Samus re-enters this room through a newly opened passage in the floor. By this point it is populated with far more enemies, which are there in a futile attempt to stop Samus from leaving the planet. Much of the room is on fire with a large amount of embers emanating from the ground compared to other rooms. A wall and ceiling in this passage, made of Power Bomb Blocks, can be easily eliminated with the Hyper Beam. The door to the lower floor of the E.M.M.I. Zone exit is blocked by flaming rubble, and the Recharge Station is no longer usable. Samus is forced to continue through the upper floor of the E.M.M.I. Zone exit to reach her Gunship. Notably, by this point the ships in the background have disappeared. It is currently unknown if they were destroyed by explosions, or if they were used by unknown parties - perhaps X infected - to escape ZDR.

"Central Unit rooms" are recurring rooms on ZDR in Metroid Dread. Each E.M.M.I. Zone contains one, serving as the location for each Central Unit, which Samus must destroy to claim the Omega Cannon and defeat the area's E.M.M.I. The final Central Unit room is visited in Hanubia after the Central Unit has been destroyed. When Samus is accosted by E.M.M.I.-07PB, she completely drains its energy with her Metroid powers, and somehow the Central Unit's as well without directly contacting it. By the time she accesses its room, it is completely destroyed, with no trace of Rinkas or Central Unit Cannons. She passes through it one final time during the escape sequence. A Shelmit and Muzby are present here in a futile last attempt to stop Samus from escaping ZDR. Embers emanate from the floor in the room, with two fires burning on either side of the Central Unit in the background.

Upper shipyard[]

Main article: Upper shipyard
Dropter-X

The "upper shipyard" is a room in Hanubia. It appears in Metroid Dread. This room is located outside the area's indoor facility, and is open to Hanubia's constant heavy rain and lightning strikes. It appears to be high above the ground. The entrance to the shipyard and exit to the former Artaria elevator shaft is in a walled-off section with a Shakernaut, and a small tunnel in the right wall. This is obstructed by a Grapple Beam Block; when removed, Samus can slip through the narrow passage to access the rest of the room. The only notable feature in this section is a flickering overhead light, and a waterfall of runoff from the rain falling from a higher ledge in the background.

Past the wall is a high ledge with a Total Recharge Station, underneath which is a narrow tunnel covered with wires in the foreground. This tunnel houses a Missile Tank (see below). Further into the background are at least three other buildings with walkways. A ceiling above the room prevents Samus from Space Jumping into the sky. Two Mawkin starships are present near the buildings in the background, somewhat jostling in place. The stern of the vessel that brought the E.M.M.I. to ZDR is also barely visible in the lower right corner of the screen when Samus stands so that the Mawkin ships are to her left. The rest of it is visible in another nearby shipyard.

On Samus's first visit, the Elite Chozo Soldier is present in the background. It stands on a ledge in the background, before Spin Jumping to the right, bouncing off one of the Mawkin ships, and disappearing behind the building wall. It is fought in the next chamber.[3] Its spear is visible if Samus looks closely at the building the Chozo Soldier jumped behind.

Elite chamber[]

Main article: Elite chamber
Elite chamber

The "elite chamber" is a room in Hanubia. It appears in Metroid Dread. This is a contained room with a walkway outside the Hanubia facility. It is passed through while Samus is exploring the area in search of Itorash, where Raven Beak is located. Since it is outside, the room is exposed to the rainstorm, with the ceiling of one building in the background having noticeable runoff from its roof. Two crates are present beside this building, and lightning strikes are visible in the background as well. A ceiling overhead prevents most of the rain from landing on the playable plane. Several loose cables hang from the ceiling, shaking because of the wind. Three cables are also present on the floor, which do not move. Part of the ceiling consists of elongated, yellow lights.

When Samus enters this room for the first time, she is confronted by the Elite Chozo Soldier, who jumps in from the background and stands tall for a moment before engaging her. It presumably entered this room from the background of the previous one, where it disappeared behind a wall outside. Samus is forced to battle this final soldier. Upon defeating it, she grabs its head, slams it to the floor and siphons its energy using her newly manifested power. Once defeated, Samus is able to leave and access Itorash. If she returns to this room following the battle with the Elite, two Sharpaws will have taken up residence.

If Samus dies while fighting the Elite Chozo Soldier, a checkpoint places her outside the door to its chamber.

"Transport to Itorash" is a small indoor room with a Transport Capsule leading up to Itorash, the final area of Dread. The chamber itself is non-descript, with apparatus in the background to support the capsule, which is noticeably sparking. There are two storage crates off to the left, which cannot be interacted with. The capsule launches through a large circular vent in the ceiling above it. To use the capsule, Samus must stand on a platform until it lowers, before selecting the option to use the capsule.

Crash Site[]

Main article: Crash Site (Hanubia)
Metroid Suit Morph Ball

The "Crash Site" is a room in Hanubia. It appears in Metroid Dread. This is where Itorash crashes after Samus Aran completely drains it of its energy, and it is where she eradicates Raven Beak after he is assimilated by an X Parasite. The Crash Site is located outside and at the base of the Hanubia facility. This room is in an area not accessible prior to Samus's battle with Raven Beak. Large, jagged debris from Itorash covers and protrudes from the floor in the background, with some of it on fire despite the constant rainstorm in Hanubia. Tall structures are visible further into the background, and may represent other facilities. Despite this being the apparent crash site of Itorash, a cavernous ceiling extends over the room from a cliff on the eastern side. It is possible that its debris scattered across a wide radius and the rest of the facility landed elsewhere.

After Samus defeats Raven Beak, her energy-draining abilities sap Itorash entirely of its energy and cause it to crash into Hanubia. Both Samus and Raven Beak survive. Upon landing, Samus stands up, with her back to the screen and now wearing a mutated, Metroid-like Power Suit. She turns around and sees a hunched over Raven Beak still alive, although weakened. Taking aim, Samus witnesses a large, purple X Parasite possess Raven Beak and assimilate him, turning him into a deformed monster called Raven Beak X.

Using her new Hyper Beam, Samus defeats Raven Beak once and for all, and kills the X that emerges from it. After it dies, a self-destruct sequence commences, threatening to destroy the entire planet of ZDR in three minutes. To escape, Samus must Space Jump or Shinespark up to the top of the Crash Site and use the Hyper Beam to shoot out the wall on the upper left. This puts her on a path back into the Hanubia facility, through which she can reach her Gunship. She must jump carefully up to the wall, as there is a slope that will cause Samus to slide down if she jumps onto it.

Landing Site[]

Metroid Dread Starship landing

The "Landing Site" is a room in Hanubia. It appears in Metroid Dread. While is the first room Samus explores on ZDR, she does so off-screen, and in the game it is the final room explored on-screen. The Landing Site is set in a small, barren plain outside the Hanubia facility. The ground is uneven and cracked, and with large, curved rock spires and outcroppings extending into the background. This gives way to an open entrance into the building, outside of which is what appears to be a large wheel. The path into the facility is winding and long. It is also exposed to the outside, as evident by an open background wall with barricades (bent during the final escape). Multiple generators with spinning round ends are positioned on the back wall, connected to large pipes. Near the top of the passageway is a slanted pair of windows and a long, hanging cable. During the final escape sequence, much of this room is on fire, with explosions occurring frequently.

After Samus's Gunship lands on ZDR, the game cuts to Samus regaining consciousness on the floor of the "Artaria entrance". It then recounts how she got there in medias res - she had landed in this room and left her Gunship before descending into Artaria via an Elevator. Two brief glimpses of the Landing Site occur in this scene. The objective of Samus's mission following her encounter with Raven Beak is to return to her ship on the surface.

At the end of her mission, Samus races back to her Gunship as the planet begins to explode. She was previously unable to without acquiring the Hyper Beam, which was capable of demolishing an otherwise indestructible door in the way. The only playable portion of the Landing Site is the winding mechanical corridor; as soon as Samus steps into the open plain, the final cutscene begins in which she rushes into her ship. Sitting down, she attempts to use the controls, only for her Metroid powers to flare up. ADAM, somehow aware of them despite not having contact with Samus for hours, warns her that using the ship in her state will siphon its energy and leave her stranded on the doomed planet.

Don't. You'll drain the ship of its energy.

—ADAM

As Samus examines her left hand, the X-infected corpse of Quiet Robe suddenly appears behind her. She threatens to fire at him, but he bows and dematerializes into a red X Parasite. The X is absorbed by Samus, neutralizing her Metroid Suit and stabilizing her DNA. This allows her to safely pilot her Gunship off ZDR before its destruction.
