Portal Site[]

Phazon site STG

The Portal Site is a room in the Sky Temple Grounds. It appears in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes in a single cutscene, and is not playable. The room is entered only once, from Hive Chamber B in the Splinter Hive. Samus Aran follows a blue being resembling her Power Suit through a Dark Portal and ends up in this location. She immediately falls into a Safe Zone and finds Dark Samus absorbing from a wall of Phazon. The room seems to be sealed in with the ceiling open to the sky of Dark Aether and Phazon on part of the wall. Several mysterious creatures lurk around the ceiling, awaiting a meal. As Samus is about to get up, Dark Samus realizes someone is there and shoots, but misses. Samus is about to get up to combat Dark Samus, until the Light Crystal protecting her Safe Zone is destroyed. Dark Samus did this to get away from the Ing, even if she had to leave the precious Phazon behind. The Safe Zone then begins to flicker and shrink, and Dark Samus flees as the odd creatures leap down and prepare to go in for the kill. Samus continues to back away until the Ing jump on her, and she is knocked back through the Portal. After escaping, the Portal disappears, and Samus cannot access it anymore.

Beam Ammo Expansion Sky Temple

Profane Path is a room in the Sky Temple Grounds, appearing within Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. This room can be accessed during Samus's return trip to the room's Aetherian counterpart. It is a somewhat large room containing several Bladepods and an outside view of the Sky Temple above, along with any Planetary Energy beams still remaining within Dark Aether. A Beam Ammo Expansion exists within a tower of Ingworms, the item obtainable by disabling an Echo Key Beam system. Two Dark Pirate Commandos patrol the lands with each visit to this room, though they do not lock the present Blue Door. This room also contains a Morph Ball tunnel seen from the room's Light World counterpart. Though it is unnecessary to travel inside it, it can still be used to escape from enemy attacks.

The Aetherian version of this room is the Sacred Path and a Portal connects the two.

Phazon Pit

The Phazon Pit is a room in the Sky Temple Grounds. It appears in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

It is a small open-sky tunnel with two ledges facing each other, with a Grapple Point for swinging across. Below the Grapple Point is a pit of Phazon (from which the room's name originates) which a Dark Tallon Metroid emerges from. A small ledge sticks out from one of the two larger ledges and can be used to jump out of the pit should Samus fall in. The room also gives off small noticeable reflective lighting as time passes, mainly originating from Dark Aether's atmosphere.

The Aether equivalent of this room is Sacred Bridge.

Phazon Grounds

The Phazon Grounds are a room in the Sky Temple Grounds. They appear in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. The grounds are quite large, and feature several large patches of Phazon, two Space Pirate corpses, two Dormant Ingclaws and Dark Tallon Metroids, one of which is carrying a third deceased Pirate Commando that will be dropped if the Metroid is shot or it notices Samus. Another Dark Tallon Metroid appears to float idly close to one of the deceased Pirates and its nearby supply of contained Phazon, while a few others hover over a massive bottomless pit. Scanning the two corpses reveals that one of the two Pirates had been drained of its life by a Metroid but still had all of its ammunition, indicating that it was killed by a sneak attack. Scanning the other body on the ground shows that its ammo is gone: the scan says that this one "didn't go quietly."

The Aether version of this room is the GFMC Compound.

Reliquary Access is a room in the Sky Temple Grounds. It appears in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It is a long corridor featuring the bodies of father and daughter Luminoth. They died within moments of one another, most likely due to exposure to Ingstorm. The room also features a Morph Ball tunnel that only leads back into the room, useful for passing through the room while evading the Ingstorm before Samus gets the Light Suit, which protects her from them.

The Aether version of this room is the Trooper Security Station.

Reliquary Grounds

The Reliquary Grounds are a room in the Sky Temple Grounds. It appears in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. The grounds are a large room featuring several Bladepods. Their main purpose is to connect to the Ing Reliquary, which features a Sky Temple Key. Several Warrior Ing, an unusually high number to encounter in one area outside of a boss battle, will attack Samus as she tries to reach it, presumably guarding the item. The real obstacle, however, is that the entire room is also filled with Ingstorm particles to discourage Samus from reaching the Reliquary or leaving without the Light Suit.

The Aether version of this room is the Communication Area.

Ing Windchamber[]

Main article: Ing Windchamber
Ing Windchamber

The Ing Windchamber is a room in the Sky Temple Grounds. It appears in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It can only be accessed from its Light Aether counterpart, the Grand Windchamber, during a puzzle to obtain the Sunburst. No enemies can be found here. A large open room almost identical to its light world counterpart, minus any doors, a defense shield, and item atop the central structure. The large glass window connecting to a side of the canyon is also absent here, leaving that area widely open. The Spinners from the light world room that are in a state of Transdimensional flux can be found in this Dark World room, and there are Light Crystals present for safe sheltering within each platform. Like the Grand Windchamber, System Control Rings are situated in the middle of the room's central structure.

Upon visiting this room, Samus must rotate each Spinner until four rings all glow a certain color, and then fire Seeker Missiles at the four targets on each ring. The two colors will either be yellow or teal, and activating the lock system will cause two metal arms tied to the device to rise in place from the central structure, both on Light and Dark Aether. After doing this, Samus must repeat the entire process once more until the structure glows a second time (the color not activated the first time). Once the second lock is activated, a second pair of metal arms rise, and all four central rings will detach and fall into the abyss below. Samus can then return to the Grand Windchamber and use the Grapple Points from the arms to reach a Kinetic Orb Cannon that will launch her to the Sunburst.

Abandoned Base[]

Main article: Abandoned Base
Abandoned Base Transport STG-MP2

The Abandoned Base is a room in the Sky Temple Grounds. It appears in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. The base is a large passageway with Luminoth architecture. Immediately upon entering, there is a natural arch with a Light Portal on top and two Ingclaws underneath. In front and to the left is a short path to a door blocked by Ingworms; in the Light Aether equivalent, Path of Eyes, this alcove holds a Red Eye Statue. Further along the winding path are large stone daises with red circles in their centers, more Ingclaws and Corrupted Sentreyes. The path, which has no Safe Zones, ends with a large sand mound that can be climbed to reach an upper platform with Bladepods. Above it is a Luminoth Supply Transport.

A long tunnel spans the inside the walls on the higher level. To enter it, Samus can access a shaft in Morph Ball form, with a piston there to lift her into the tunnel. The piston shaft is enveloped in a Safe Zone. Upon being lifted into the tunnel, Samus can roll through it and activate four Bomb Slots, which lower locks on the Luminoth Supply Transport. Using each Bomb Slot also lowers a barrier preventing Samus from proceeding further into the tunnel, meaning she must use the piston on the other side to reach the rest of the Slots.

Once the Supply Transport has been activated, a hologram will appear in its center; stepping into it will activate the Transport. It begins to automatically move along its track. Samus cannot move while it is in operation, forcing her to quickly defend herself against swarms of Nightbarbs that come her way. A Safe Zone envelops her while she is on the Transport. Upon reaching its destination, the aforementioned Light Portal, the Safe Zone disappears and the Transport lowers before releasing Samus. She can then activate the Portal and return to Aether.

The Abandoned Base's name and the presence of transport infrastructure (the scan for which says the Luminoth left it behind) suggest that it was an important transportation hub for the Luminoth during their war with the Ing, before they vacated it for unknown reasons.

By Slope Jumping, it is possible for Samus to reach the portal to Path of Eyes quickly, thus setting her on the path to Torvus Bog's elevator and allowing her to skip the Dark Suit as well as Amorbis completely.

Defiled Shrine STG-MP2

The Defiled Shrine is a room in the Sky Temple Grounds. It appears in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. One of the Sky Temple Keys is found in this room. This room is the Dark Aether version of the Landing Site on Aether. To get the Sky Temple key, Samus will have to use the Dark Visor to find the Flying Ing Cache.

The Cache contains the Key, and can be seen after a few shots. Samus must break open the Cache to acquire the Key.

This room does not contain a mirror image of Samus's Gunship which is docked in Aether. This is because Dark Aether was created as the mirror for how Aether was 50 years ago when the Leviathan impacted it and not when Samus landed at the start of the game.

A-Kul

The Sky Temple Gateway is, as the name would imply, the room containing the gateway to the Sky Temple, in the Sky Temple Grounds. It appears in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is the dark version of the Hall of Honored Dead. The temple requires the 10 Sky Temple Keys to gain access, but A-Kul managed to use her key, so Samus is only required to collect the remaining nine, scattered throughout Dark Aether. A-Kul's corpse can be found and her Keybearer Lore entry can be scanned as well as clues written within the surrounding pillars about where to find the nine remaining keys (after placing a Sky Temple Key into one of the pillars, scanning it again reveals a secret message).

After Samus has defeated the Emperor Ing in the Sky Temple, Dark Aether begins to collapse. Once she leaves the temple and reaches the gateway, a deteriorating Dark Samus suddenly blocks off the only exit available. After the doppleganger is defeated however, another wall of Phazon deteriorates and reveals a never before-seen Light Portal. Samus scans it and escapes Dark Aether, while several Warrior Ing try to stop her and break through the portal.
