Main Theme (Metroid) (メインテーマ (メトロイド)?)[1], also known as Brinstar (Brawl)[2], is a metal arrangement of the Brinstar theme. It was arranged by Kenji Yamamoto.

This remix first appeared in Metroid Prime Pinball, as the background music for the Pirate Frigate table.

Main Theme (Metroid) later found its way into Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Norfair stage with an 8-bit section and narration by Jay Ward added, much like Opening/Menu (Metroid Prime). He says: "Samus is under fire. She's sent an emergency directive: Join the fight!" Unlike Opening/Menu (Metroid Prime), this narration does not appear to have borrowed text from other sources. In Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, it briefly plays before the fight with Ridley in The Research Facility (Part II); this instance cuts out the narration.

Main Theme (Metroid) returns in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, once again playing on Norfair.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the song's title was changed to Brinstar (Brawl). It must be purchased from the Shop, costing 300 gold coins. Once unlocked, it can be played on any Metroid stage.

The theme from Pinball (without the narration) can be heard here: [1], and the theme from Brawl (with the narration) here: [2]

Trivia

  • Despite being titled "Main Theme" by the Super Smash Bros. series, the Brinstar theme is not actually considered the main theme of the Metroid series. Instead, a six-note leitmotif from Title (Metroid) serves as the series's central theme. This may be the reason why its title was changed in Ultimate.
