Hey, the CPU seems to have self-destructed... The central system is broken into parts, but... I think I might be able to restore it and recover some of the data. Let's try it.

—Maurice Favreau

Maurice Favreau (モーリス・ファンボロー Mōrisu Fanborō?) was a soldier in the Galactic Federation Army, working as the military engineer of the 07th Platoon led by Adam Malkovich in Metroid: Other M.[2]

Biography[]

Maurice trained in the Galactic Federation Academy at Training Base #2, and first served at Resupply Center #4 in the Department of Logistics. He was then transferred in the 07th Platoon as a military engineer.[2]

Maurice and the 07th Platoon investigated the BOTTLE SHIP, encountering Samus Aran and cooperating with her to defeat the Brug Mass in the BOTTLE SHIP Control Room. Afterwards, Adam instructed Maurice to investigate the Cryosphere for survivors and repair any equipment he came across.

In the main observation deck of the Exam Center, Maurice repaired a computer which seemingly "self-destructed" and recovered a piece of data: a message revealing the Galactic Federation-sanctioned, yet illegal development of bioweapons, signed by Dr. Madeline Bergman. He recovered more of the data, asking James Pierce to hack into the computer if he could not bypass the security on his own. However, the remaining data was never revealed as the 07th Platoon evacuated the building when Samus engaged Cyborg Zebesians, and it was lost when the entire building detonated some time afterwards.

Maurice is shot dead by the Deleter with a Freeze Gun.

Maurice returned to the Cryosphere to continue his mission. Later on, Samus found Maurice dead in the Experiment Floor, having apparently frozen to death in the cold. When Samus spoke to MB, the latter implied that Maurice was killed by a fellow soldier, and a flashback showed him being shot by the Deleter using a Freeze Gun. Noticeably, his visor was open, indicating that he felt comfortable enough to assume his attacker was an ally. This incident is when Samus realizes that there is a traitor in the 07th Platoon.

In the post-credits sequence, Maurice's corpse is no longer present. It is likely that the Galactic Federation took his body, along with James Pierce's and Lyle Smithsonian's bodies, to be given a proper burial.

Description[]

Maurice Favreau was a male, Caucasian human. It seemed that he was of French heritage because of his surname and subtle accent. He was one of the older members of the 07th Platoon, being in his late 30's; his hair had already grayed and he had a receding hairline. He wore a Galactic Federation Power Suit, equipped with the standard Federation handgun, submachine gun, and Freeze Gun.

Maurice was a kind and intelligent soldier. He silently took pride in his work, and followed orders precisely. He was described as always having a thoughtful facial expression.[1] However, he can also be heard laughing as Lyle brutally exterminates a Brug with his assault rifle.
