Samus in the commercial.

Samus in the commercial.

"Metroid" is the live-action commercial for the original Metroid game, and therefore the very first commercial for any Metroid title.

An upscaled version of the commercial can be viewed here. It was formerly available on the Metroid Zero Mission Official Site, but has since been removed.[1]

Synopsis[]

The commercial begins with a view of the Milky Way Galaxy, as a beam shot is fired at it. This explodes, as a live action Samus Spin Jumps out of the blast. She lands on a Famicom Disk System cartridge, aiming at the screen as the Metroid game logo is shown at the bottom of the screen. Short clips of footage from the game are seen as the commercial cuts back to the live action Samus, who is running, with the Power Suit giving off a large cloud of steam as she jumps into the screen and turns back into her 8-bit self. After another gameplay showcase, Samus flies out of a beam of light. [1]

Production[]

The actor who portrayed Samus in this commercial is unknown. It was narrated by the late Kenji Utsumi.[2]
