The Metroid Costume Trailer or Metroid collaboration is a trailer for the Metroid content in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. It has a runtime of 1:17. It was uploaded to Nintendo's YouTube channels on October 8, 2014, and the Monster Hunter and Nintendo of Australia YouTube channels the following day.

The trailer begins with the game's ESRB T or PEGI 12 rating (depending on the region), followed by the Capcom logo. Various angles of the Samus Varia Suit costume are displayed, while the Appearance Fanfare from Super Metroid plays. After this, the music transitions to a theme from Ultimate itself, as the camera focuses on the Samus-wearing Hunter character standing atop a flaming rock. A sequence of gameplay clips follows, including the Hunter shooting their weapon (an enlarged Arm Cannon), a 360° view of the Hunter, the Hunter running and jumping into a volcano. It should be noted that the shoulders of the Varia Suit stretch beyond what the real suit in the Metroid series is capable of when the Hunter jumps.

Metroid Costume Trailer - fireball

A fireball is lobbed at the Hunter.

As the Hunter lands, more clips are shown of combat gameplay, including the Missiles that the cannon can fire. The Hunter takes a hit from a fireball, recoiling, and the Varia Suit turns into the Zero Suit costume. The trailer then showcases the Zero Suit costume, with clips of the Hunter wearing it while firing arrows at large monsters, slashing others with a sword and targeting hanging monsters. Following this, the trailer again shows the Varia Suit as the Hunter climbs a ruin and fights a large monster with a spear. A final montage of clips ensues before the trailer displays the official renders of the Samus costumes. Afterwards, the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo 3DS logos are displayed along with the message "Hunting Season Begins Early 2015", with copyright information and links to the Monster Hunter Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages.

Regional differences[]

The American version of the trailer includes the game's logo and the hashtags #MonsterHunter and #MH4U on the end card. The Australian end card includes the game's logo, eShop and 3DS logo, some of the copyright information, the hashtag #MonsterHunter and the words "Coming Early 2015". The other European versions' end cards are closer to that of the Australian trailer, but with the release date in the respective country's official language.

In Dutch, the trailer is known as Trailer Metroid-kostuum, in French, Costume Metroid, in Spanish, Tráiler atuendo Metroid, and in German, Metroid-Kostüm.
