Metroid Dread - Overview Trailer is the fourth trailer for Metroid Dread, and the longest. It was released onto Nintendo social media on September 10, 2021, alongside Volume 7 of the Metroid Dread Report.
The American trailer can be viewed here, the Japanese trailer here, the Dutch trailer here, the German trailer here, the Russian trailer here, and the UK trailer here. The European versions omit the narration and final montage of gameplay, and replace the spoken words with text. The Japanese version has a male narrator. The final segment that discusses amiibo functionality with Dread was released as a separate video in Japanese (amiibo × メトロイド ドレッド 紹介映像), which can be viewed here.

As implied by the title, the trailer gives an overview of the game, more precisely its "Exploration" and "Dread" elements.
The trailer begins with a montage of gameplay clips, including Samus using the Melee Counter on a Shakernaut, boarding an elevator, using the Grapple Beam and Spin Boost, and her confrontations with Corpius, E.M.M.I.-02SM and 06WB, Kraid and the then-unknown Raven Beak. After the game logo is displayed, Samus is introduced with a montage of the introduction sequence, and more clips that show her fighting enemies and riding another elevator.

As the game's exploration-focused concepts are detailed, the narrator introduces planet ZDR by saying it has "many secrets". A map of Artaria is shown, along with clips of Samus in fire, forest, and underwater environments in Cataris, Ghavoran, and Burenia respectively. She is also seen running across a bridge in the massive outdoor cavern leading to Elun. Her Arm Cannon, Missile Launcher, jump, Slide and Melee Counter are shown off, before Samus collects the Varia Suit in an Item Room. The narrator explains some of Samus's power-ups, including the Spider Magnet, Morph Ball, Flash Shift and Storm Missile, and says that Samus's exploration options will gradually increase as she gains more abilities, eventually leaving ZDR hers for the taking. These abilities' combat uses are then displayed, with Samus using them on several Chozo Soldiers.

After this, the trailer focuses on the titular "Dread" aspect of gameplay, emphasized by the role of the E.M.M.I. The narrator explains that the E.M.M.I. can track Samus through the sounds she makes, and give chase when they spot her. The different colors of E.M.M.I. are revealed, including green, yellow and blue, with the latter freezing an Autool before crushing it on contact.
Subsequent gameplay clips shown include Drogyga roaring, a large statue of a kneeling Chozo that holds the Pulse Radar and Samus standing before the enormous blast door in Elun. She is then shown facing down a previously unseen purple E.M.M.I. that does not move. She turns around and spots the Chozo Quiet Robe, with this scene correctly implying that the Chozo stopped the E.M.M.I. for her and this is when they will meet. Following this, new clips depict creatures in stasis tanks in Hanubia, Experiment No. Z-57, Samus's hand unclenching with purple energy (seen before in another trailer), Samus in her Gravity Suit, before ending with a glimpse of Samus's eyes appearing infuriated (visible in the first thumbnail above). During the final part, Samus can be heard screaming in rage, which ultimately happens in-game as she manifests the Metroid Suit and brutally defeats Raven Beak. A very fast montage depicts re-enactments of the Chozo Memories in Dread, including the previously unseen re-enactment of Memory 10/11, the first to feature Raven Beak.
One last sequence of gameplay clips, most of them previously seen, then plays. Samus is shown killing off a Hecathon, Melee Countering the Elite Chozo Soldier, using the Spider Magnet in Burenia, Space Jumping in the frozen Artaria, and battling Kraid, who breaks one of his restraints. The trailer ends here, with the narrator outlining the contents of the game's Special Edition. Finally, the functionality of the Samus and E.M.M.I. amiibo with the game and what they unlock are detailed. The narrator does not explain if past Metroid series amiibo have functionality. The Amiibo segment is released as a separate YouTube video in the Japanese version, which, while technically existing outside Japan, is relegated to a purely embed video on the official site elsewhere.

Trivia[]
- When the trailer first came out, it was speculated that Andi Gibson, who voiced Impa in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, acted as the narrator of the trailer due to comments in the American English language trailer on YouTube.[3] However, when asked about it on Twitter, Gibson denied it, though she did love the idea.[4]
