Metroid Fusion Special Edition: Rebirth of Samus (メトロイド フュージョン特別編新生サムスの誕生 ) is an eight-page manga included with volume one of Samus & Joey. Both were illustrated by Idzuki Kouji. Based on Metroid Fusion, it covers the opening events of the game, from Samus Aran's hospitalization to her battle with the X-mimicked Arachnus. The SA-X, despite not being in the manga, is featured on the cover.
Along with the rest of Samus & Joey, this manga was never officially released outside of Japan. In November 2011, the Metroid Database translated it along with volume 1, chapter 5 of Samus & Joey.
Kouji drew the chapter to promote sales for Fusion. It was planned as a one shot, but he later said he would not have minded writing a longer story.[1]
