Metroid Prime Hunters: The Official Nintendo Player's Guide is the official strategy guide for Metroid Prime Hunters, published by Nintendo Power.[1][2][3] It features a full walkthrough of the game including expansion locations, maps and strategies for the game's Multiplayer Mode. According to Amazon, it was published on March 13, 2006. It was written by George Sinfield, Casey Loe and Christopher Shepperd.
Content[]
The book is 138 pages long.
The front cover, as with most strategy guides, depicts the same image as on the game's box art. In this case, it is Samus Aran aiming her Arm Cannon at the screen, with her rival Bounty Hunters in the game - Spire, Trace, Kanden, Sylux, Noxus and Weavel - all standing behind her. The guide's title page features the logo and another render of Samus behind it.
The guide is divided into six sections, each with its own chapters. First, The Hunters summarizes the Bounty Hunter-based gameplay and features short biographies of Samus and the other Hunters, as well as their Affinity Weapons, Alt-Forms, Alt-Form Weapons and individual abilities. The Basic Gameplay section covers the Stylus and Dual Mode control schemes used in Hunters, more advanced gameplay functions, like the Scan Visor, and gameplay tips. It also includes a chart showing the weapons that are strongest against each hunter (for example, Spire being vulnerable to the Judicator).
The Guide Features section details the layout of the Adventure Mode walkthrough, and the types of information that can be found, such as item or rare Logbook entry locations. The Adventure Mode section serves as a walkthrough for the game's Adventure Mode. This is followed by a section on the Multiplayer Mode, with pages devoted to each playable stage and strategies for winning in battles on them. Finally, there is a Logbook Entries section, which is both a list of all Logbook entries and an index for where they can be found in the game.
Separate tables of contents for the Adventure and Multiplayer Modes divide the former's walkthrough into sub-chapters, for each visit to the various stations and planets in the Alimbic Cluster. Of them, Alinos is the only planet that must be visited thrice, as it is there that Samus must use her Octoliths to open the path to the Oubliette. Each room is given a list of items and scans that can be acquired in them, and each area sub-chapter begins with a map of the location, with all collectible locations marked.
The Multiplayer Mode table of contents details every stage and strategies for matches held on them. Additional biographies of each Bounty Hunter are featured, along with details on their individual strengths and weaknesses, and battle strategies. As with the campaign, maps of each multiplayer stage are present, and item locations are marked. The maps are repeated at the end of the guide, rendered in 2D renderings and with the locations of Affinity Weapons, Energy Tanks and Universal Ammunition Expansions.
Notably, there is an error in Sylux's description which says that he turns invisible when equipped with the Imperialist. This is a mistake, as this only happens to Trace. There is also an error on page 92: the "Strategies" section for multiplayer matches on Sanctorus contains tactics usable by Sylux. However, Samus's head is displayed next to his name.
