Metroid Prime Remastered - Launch Trailer is the announcement and release trailer for Metroid Prime Remastered. It was shown during the Nintendo Direct on February 8, 2023, with an altered trailer being uploaded to YouTube shortly thereafter. The altered trailer was uploaded to the Nintendo UK YouTube channel with the title Metroid Prime Remastered - Out now!.
The trailer uploaded by Nintendo of America can be viewed here: [1]. The version uploaded by Nintendo UK can be viewed here: [2].
The Launch Trailer's motion graphics and animation were created by Adam Barenblat.
Description[]
The separately uploaded trailer begins with a view of Tallon IV from outer space as the Planet Tallon IV music plays. The scene then transitions to a part of the game's Title Screen as the words "Rediscover the world of Tallon IV" are displayed. A reel is shown of the following locations with updated graphics: the Tallon Overworld, Chozo Ruins, Magmoor Caverns, and Phendrana Drifts.
The music briefly changes to Phendrana Battle as the Title Screen is shown again – now with the words "Relive the iconic adventure, remastered in HD" – and Samus Aran lands her Gunship on the planet. The music abruptly changes again to Metroid Prime Credits when she emerges from the ship and gameplay footage begins. Samus is seen looking around the Exterior Docking Hangar; fighting a Space Pirate; walking through two tunnels, one containing Scarabs; navigating a Morph Ball maze; scanning a Parasite; encountering a trapped Tallon Metroid in Glacier One; fighting Aqua and Elite Pirates; navigating Spider Ball Tracks; using the Grapple Beam; fighting Chozo Ghosts with the Combat and X-Ray Visors respectively; fighting a Tallon Metroid; and finally witnessing Meta Ridley's escape from the Frigate Orpheon. The words "Step into the suit with updated controls" and "Navigate through and fight to survive" appear at certain points in the gameplay reel.
The trailer ends with the remastered game's logo while the Metroid Prime Theme plays. The message "Available Now on Nintendo eShop" is displayed under the logo and followed by "Available in Stores February 22nd". European versions of the trailer do not include any release information, although the planned[1] and actual[2] release dates there were February 8th (eShop) and March 3rd (physical).
Nintendo Direct version[]
The original trailer shown during the Nintendo Direct displays several differences from those uploaded later. The first two on-screen messages (displayed at the same times as those mentioned above) were instead "Countdown to reentry..." and "Drop imminent..."; these were written on an interface reminiscent of a computer as opposed to using graphics from Metroid Prime's Title Screen. Later on-screen text is absent, and several scenes in the gameplay reel either switched places, were added, or were removed in later versions of the trailer. The specific differences in the gameplay reel are:
- The scene where Samus encounters Scarabs was originally shown after the one where she encounters a trapped Tallon Metroid.
- The battle with the basic Space Pirate was absent in the original trailer.
- The scene where Samus navigates an enclosed Morph Ball maze was absent; the one with Spider Ball Tracks was shown in its place.
- After the showcase of the Aqua and Elite Pirates, Samus was also seen using the Thermal Visor to fight Thardus.
- The scenes with the Grapple Beam and Chozo Ghosts were absent.
Like European versions, the Title Screen at the end of the trailer did not show any information on the game's release dates. These were instead revealed by the Nintendo Direct narrator after a later segment where he discussed the remaster's mechanics.
