MK III Shield

The MK III Shield, with a Federation Marine for scale.

The Mk III Shield is a piece of Galactic Federation technology intended to appear in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It was likely to appear in or around the base created by GFMC Task Force Herakles. These barriers could likely be destroyed by the Charge Beam, Missiles or Power Bombs, making them little obstacle to Samus Aran. Scan data and a model for the MK III Shield can be found in the files of the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Bonus Disc.

In the final game, the name GF Shield is used as an alternate name for GF Defense Shield when setting up the game's Data Network hierarchy. The scan itself however, is not present during normal gameplay.[1]
