Network Stations (also referred to as Communication Rooms by Theresa Apolinario) are a type of safe room that appears in Metroid Dread.

Description[]

These rooms serve as the successor to the Navigation Rooms of Metroid Fusion, in which Samus was able to communicate with ADAM for mission orders. Samus can use a terminal here to upload mission data to ADAM, who provides her with gameplay hints and story-related information, but not mission orders or objectives. Samus can also save using these rooms. Conversations can be reviewed in the Mission Log.

Network Stations are small chambers about the size of a typical Save Station. In the center of the floor is a pressure pad which Samus can stand on to interface with ADAM. When she does, she will walk forward and a socket will extend out to her. Samus will automatically insert her Arm Cannon and her Suit Voice will say "Uploading data". Samus will then remove her cannon. A massive circular screen in the background, connected to large cables, serves as a screen for ADAM to speak with Samus. When activated, the screen lights up with voxels (similar to an E.M.M.I. Zone Door), which vibrate like a boombox when ADAM speaks.

When Samus first enters these rooms, they are running on auxiliary power. By standing on the pressure pad, she will turn on the room's lights and, as stated, upload mission data to ADAM. It is not possible to have additional conversations with ADAM in the same room bar a few exceptions; standing on the pad again will simply bring up the option to save.

At the end of the game, Samus uplinks with ADAM in what she thinks is a Network Station in Itorash. In actuality, it is a mirage conjured up by Raven Beak, who urges her to submit to him. Samus fires a Super Missile at "ADAM", causing the mirage to fade and reveal the "Mawkin throne room".

Trivia[]

  • The holographic Chozo symbols on either side of the Network Station terminal are sequences of zeroes and ones, presumably representing binary numbers.
