GCN GBA Cable

The Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable is used to connect the Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance. The Fusion Suit and Metroid can be unlocked in Metroid Prime by connecting to Metroid Fusion with this link, and having either (or both) games beaten. Samus's Varia Suit can also be downloaded from an e-Reader card to Animal Crossing with this cable.

Super Metroid was originally the game unlocked in Prime through connecting. David Kirsch had built the classic SNES title into Prime, but Nintendo ordered its removal because he had used a third-party emulator to implement the game.[1]

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid: Zero Mission were originally intended to be able to connect to one another, as with their predecessors, but both time constraints and the fact that their release dates were far apart prevented this feature's implementation. Zero Mission, however, is able to connect to Fusion via the Game Boy Advance Game Link cable.[1] Another factor was the low number of players who possessed connecting cables.[2]

The connectivity feature in Prime was programmed by Hideaki Shimizu and Tomohiro Kawase.

Timing prevented implementation of connectivity features. Metroid Fusion, on the other hand, will connect to Zero Mission.”
