The observation deck[1] is a corridor in Sector 1 / Biosphere. It appears in Metroid: Other M and is the only room with re-spawning Groganches.
Description[]
Samus enters this room from a Navigation Booth that is running on auxiliary power, via a damaged wall she can rupture using a Missile or Bomb. The room begins with a steep staircase, which is lined with blue safety lights that flicker in parts. This corridor curves around to an observation area with impenetrable glass windows, through which a forest environment can be seen, with palm and other trees.
The most notable feature of the room are the two Groganches roaming outside the indoor corridor. These Groganches are much larger than the other specimens Samus encounters, and cannot be reached behind the glass. The Groganches can be killed if Samus slowly fires at their bulbs with the Wave Beam, but there is no reward for doing this, and they will respawn on subsequent visits. They are seen constantly firing their noxious gas projectiles erratically and at nothing in particular.
Beyond the observation window is another curve in the corridor that leads to a second staircase. This area is damaged, with flickering and broken lights, and parts of the walls missing.
