An Obsydomithon is a rock-based creature that appears in Metroid Dread. It was first revealed in Volume 8 of the Metroid Dread Report.
Description[]
Obsydomithons are found near magma in Cataris and the hot parts of Artaria. Initially, they are docile and remain still in an ore-like form, but when it spots Samus, it transforms into a larger form with multiple legs and an open maw. It charges up a high-temperature burst attack that deals severe damage to Samus if she is caught in it. The attack is so powerful that it can penetrate nearby terrain. It is weak to the Charge Beam, Missiles, and the Melee Counter.
Despite appearing to be made of rock, Obsydomithons are susceptible to the X Parasites released from Elun. In addition to infecting Obsydomithons, the X can form a hybrid creature called a Rodomithon-X, created by combining Obsydomithon DNA and Rodotuk DNA.
