Opening/Menu (Metroid Prime) (オープニング / メニュー (メトロイドプライム) ) is a theme in Super Smash Bros. Brawl playing on the Frigate Orpheon stage that consists of a medley of the Metroid Prime Theme from Metroid Prime and the Credits theme as well. A narration by Jay Ward was added to the opening title portion of the song, much like Main Theme (Metroid). The narration reads:
- "In the reaches of space, below the surface of planet Zebes, Samus Aran faced the Space Pirates. She destroyed their operation, wiped out the parasites called "Metroids", and defeated Mother Brain. But the Pirates were far from finished."
In Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, the theme plays in The Research Facility (Part I) and The Great Maze, with the narration and Metroid Prime Theme removed.
Opening/Menu (Metroid Prime), now written as Opening/Menu - Metroid Prime, returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Like all other Metroid songs, it can now be played on any stage based on the Metroid series.
The theme can be heard here: [1].
Dialogue origin[]
File:Pvm01.ogg Interestingly, some of this dialogue is reused from an unused monologue in Prime, which was originally recorded by an unknown actress. Jay Ward rerecorded these lines for Brawl.
The unused dialogue is as follows. Any dialogue reused in Brawl is in bold.:
- "Ten years ago, below the surface of Planet Zebes, the mercenaries known as Space Pirates were defeated by interstellar bounty hunter Samus Aran. Descending to the very core of the Pirate stronghold, Samus exterminated the energy-based parasites called Metroids, and defeated Mother Brain, the leader of the Pirate Horde. But the Space Pirates were far from finished. Several Pirate research vessels were orbiting Zebes while Samus fought on the surface below. After the fall of Mother Brain, the ships escaped, with the hopes of finding enough resources to rebuild their forces, and take their revenge. After discovering a possible Pirate colony on planet Tallon IV, Samus has again prepared for war, hoping to end the Pirate threat forever."
Trivia[]
- Opening/Menu (Metroid Prime) is the only Metroid song featured in Brawl that was not included in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
- In the August 8, 2018 Nintendo Direct, the song's title was written as Metroid Prime: Opening/Menu in the Ultimate Sound Test. This was changed before the release of Ultimate.
