Owtches are small, shelled creatures found in Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion.

Description[edit | edit source]

Their hard shells resist some beams. In Super Metroid they can burrow into the sands of Maridia and hide, although the Speed Booster can still kill them.

The ones encountered in Metroid Fusion are all infected variants and X Parasite mimics, with a coloration different from authentic Owtches. They are bigger in size, but they can be harmed with every beam, and do not hide in the floor. Owtches appear to be mollusks due to their snail-like bodies; like a snail, they have both a pseudopod and a shell.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Their name may be a pun on the word "ouch" due to them having spiked shells which harm Samus.
  • In the internal data of Super Metroid, Owtch is referred to as Toge. In Japanese, toge (?) means "thorn", which may relate to its spiked shell.
