It was in this room that the Metroid Prime became fused with Phazon. It is possible that the Phazon Core resides in this room, as the dormant state in which Samus finds Metroid Prime greatly reflects the way in which the other Leviathan guardians are found when first encountered. Samus's entry into the Phazon Infusion Chamber disturbs the Metroid Prime from its slumber, but before the Bounty Hunter can engage the creature, it makes a hole in the wall behind it and flees, with Samus following.
- In the Metroid Prime Official Strategy Guide and Metroid Prime: The Official Nintendo Player's Guide, the Phazon bits in the cutscene stills of Metroid Prime's first appearance were orange, while in the actual game, they were blue.
- Similarly, the Metroid Prime comic depicts the Phazon Infusion Chamber as having yellow Phazon bits instead of either orange or blue.
