The current title is from the game's internal data.
Phazon Maggots are an unused slug-like creature in Metroid Prime.
Development notes[]
Phazon Maggots are depicted in concept art for Prime featured Nintendo.com as well as in the in-game Concept Gallery. No evidence exists that they were ever prototyped into the game, although they also have a Scan Visor image. Based on the artwork, it is likely they would have appeared in the Impact Crater, if not elsewhere on Tallon IV.
Metroid Prime Remastered features an unused Logbook entry for this creature:
Phazon Maggot
Morphology: Phazon Maggot
Phazon-infused vermin.
Exposure to Phazon has had a dramatic impact on the Tallon IV ecosystem. The flora and fauna that manage to survive Phazon exposure often mutate in the process. Even the lowly maggot is no exception.
