Phazon grenades are used by Space Pirates in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. When thrown at Samus Aran, similar to the EMP grenade it has the capability of temporarily immobilizing her. Unlike the EMP however, which fills her Combat Visor with static, a Phazon grenade will cause a Phazon Overload in which Samus has a limited amount of time to vent her inner Phazon energy before succumbing to Terminal Corruption. The grenades are used as a distraction technique, most notably as Samus is attempting to destroy the Anti-Air Cannon "Tiamat" in South Jungle Court, but they can be seen in any other encounters with Pirates later in the game.
