Pirate Cover

Pirate Covers are massive disk or wheel-shaped objects, which appear in the Temple of Bryyo during Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. They feature ridges around their radius, and a sun-like pattern on their side, seen with at least one of the objects mounted sideways.

Encountered on the first visit, these objects are indestructible and cannot be scanned. They can be used as cover by Samus when she is fighting the small force of Pirate Troopers and ATCs that attack her. Some appear in stacks of two, or alone, with at least one on its side and one tipped onto another. Their purpose is unknown, but they may have some practical use that is not made clear. They can be seen when Rundas is revealed to be possessed by Dark Samus, but disappear during the battle against him. After he is defeated, the Pirate Covers are not seen again for the duration of the game.

Their name originates from the game's object data, which refers to them as "Pirate Cover" or "Pirate Cover - Juicer" in the game's object data. What the "juicer" refers to is unknown.
