"Space Pirate encrypted data decoded."

The subject of this article is not named in-game.
The current title is from the game's internal data.

Pirate Yoin (as named internally) is an ambience in Metroid Prime. It was composed by Kenji Yamamoto, and is one of the few themes from Prime that is not included in the Metroid Prime & Fusion Original Soundtracks or Nintendo Music app.

It plays in areas of significant Space Pirate presence, namely Glacier One and the Phazon Mines, when all Pirates in a room have been killed. It is especially prominent in Phazon Mines Level Two (outside Metroid Quarantine A and Elevator Access B), where it becomes an area theme serving a similar role to Phazon Mines on the first level or Phazon Area on the third. The Pirate Fear theme in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes serves a similar purpose.

The theme is slow and heavily atmospheric, themed around emptiness. It should be noted that "yoin" (余韻?) is a Japanese word that translates to "reverberation", "resonance" or "repercussion", fitting considering how it persists after all Space Pirates have been culled from a room.

The theme can be heard here.
