Planet Zebes - Arrival on Crateria (惑星ゼーベス クレテリア到着)[1] is a music theme that originated in Super Metroid. It was originally composed by Kenji Yamamoto.
In Super Metroid, it is heard as Samus lands her Starship on Crateria during a thunderstorm. The track appropriately includes thunder effects; these sound effects cease while the music continues to play as Samus moves through Crateria and into the ruins of the original Tourian and the Starting Point in Brinstar. It stops playing outside the Landing Site after Samus emerges from the destroyed Zebesian Command Center and is ambushed by Space Pirates, but continues to play in the Landing Site until Kraid is destroyed, at which point Crateria Surface begins to play.
The theme is part of an arrangement of Crateria - The Space Pirates Appear on the Super Metroid: Sound in Action CD.
The theme is remixed at the end of Metroid: Samus Returns. As Samus is returning to her Gunship on SR388's Surface with the baby, this theme is heard, again during a storm on the Surface. The new version was arranged by Daisuke Matsuoka. In the internal files, the theme is referred to as Crateria. In the Sound Test, it is titled Surface 2.
