Premiere October 8 (Polish: premiera 8 października), also titled From Hunter to Prey... (Dutch and Belgian: Van jager tot prooi…) (not to be confused with another trailer) is a 30 second commercial for Metroid Dread. It originally played during the Japanese version of the September 23, 2021 Nintendo Direct, and is the last of a series of three commercials in Japan. This ad focuses purely on gameplay/scenes from the game. It is also the only one of the three commercials to be released outside Japan, being released on the Polish Nintendo YouTube channel on October 3, 2021, nearly two weeks later.

The Japanese version can be viewed here, the Polish version here, the Belgian version here, and the Dutch version here.

Description[]

At the beginning of the commercial, Samus is shown flying to ZDR, with ADAM telling her via screen that "The risk clearly outweighs the reward." with regard to the mission. A fast sequence of gameplay clips ensues, including Samus arriving in Cataris, using the Grapple Beam on a point and to pull a large underwater structure, hiding from E.M.M.I.-03MB with the Phantom Cloak, acquiring the Omega Cannon and firing the Omega Stream at E.M.M.I.-03MB, using the Melee Counter on an Autclast and Armadigger, using the Flash Shift to evade a Robot Chozo Soldier's attack, and firing the Storm Missile with the camera zooming in.

As the music picks up, Samus is shown firing a Missile at E.M.M.I.-02SM, receiving the Varia Suit, using the Melee Counter on a Slaaga, battling a Chozo Soldier with red armor and a disfigured head, and a boss battle with Experiment No. Z-57 in Cataris, which falls out of the room and drags Samus after it. As the commercial ends, more clips play of Samus jumping through Corpius's tail shortly after delivering the coup de grace, and Kraid roaring at Samus. The Japanese version of the commercial ends with the game's title and a render of Samus posing while her visor and suit lights glow intensely against the dark background. The Polish version of the commercial instead ends similarly to other ads, in particular Be careful, Samus ..., where it shows E.M.M.I.-04SB capturing Samus only to end just before it kills her. The game's boxart, release date and several Nintendo Switch models are also displayed.

Music[]

This ad is notable for having a rock & roll song playing in the background. The name of the song and artist is unknown, and a note during the Direct states that the song is not included in Dread itself.[1] The lyrics are as follows:

I'm gonna break through
Want me, showtime
Keep on movin', pushin', my way, aim at the target
I'll make it all the way
Show me what you got
