Rafael "Rafa" Martínez García is the former senior producer at MercurySteam, where he worked from 2006 to 2019. He directed the production of Metroid: Samus Returns.[1][2] He also oversaw the production of Clive Barker's Jericho, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and its sequel, and Spacelords/Raiders of the Broken Planet, and is credited under thanks in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate. Martinez was producer and game designer in Commandos 2: Men of Courage and in Commandos 3: Destination Berlin.
Martínez departed MercurySteam in April 2019 after thirteen years. He served as development director at YUMP.com from May 2019 to January 2020, and is currently the co-founder and development director of Æurora Games. Despite no longer being at MercurySteam, Martínez was credited as an additional developer in Metroid Dread.

- During the #GamesStruck4 Twitter phenomenon, Martínez tweeted that his four favorite games were Samus Returns, Commandos 2:Men of Courage, Tetris on Game Boy and the Combat of Atari. Ander Amo del Ser jokingly tweeted in response that including two of his own games (Samus Returns and Men of Courage) is cheating.[3] On Twitter, Martinez has celebrated the various accolades and nominations Samus Returns and MercurySteam have earned.[4][5]
- Martínez gave a speech at Gamelab Conference 2017, a conference for Spanish game developers.[6][7]
