Red Blast Shields can only be destroyed using the Missile Launcher. They only need to be shot once with a missile; after that, the doors they cover turn into Blue Doors. Red Blast Shields can be found in the Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Blast shields that appear in Metroid Prime are mostly gray in color and have a red target-like shape on them that oddly looks like the target cursor used in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes has Blast Shields that are almost entirely red, Metroid Prime Hunters has Brown Blast Shields, each functioning the same way. They are similar to the magenta-shielded doors in the 2D Metroid games, which take 5 standard Missiles to deactivate. Despite exactly the same function, they are different in appearance on every planet, to fit the door design. In Corruption, the Blast Shield shape is dependent on what planet that Samus is on.
