Samus

Samus in her varia suit.

Samus Aran is the main protagonist of the Metroid games. She is a space bounty hunter, and is famous for her orange-red Power Suit.

Biography

Much of Samus' life and history remains a mystery. She was living with her parents as part of the Earth Colony on Planet K-2L and at 3 years old she was orphaned when Space Pirates attacked the colony, led by Ridley. The only known survivor, she was discovered by a group of Chozo and was transported to Planet Zebes, a Chozo planet, infused with Chozo blood and eventually given the famous Power Suit. Eventually she became a bounty hunter, which heralded the beginning of her real journey.

After becoming the most famed and capable of all bounty hunters (succeeding in missions everyone considered impossible) Samus was summoned by the Galactic Federation and given the orders to infiltrate Zebes, the formerly Chozo-dominated world which had since been overrun by the same Space Pirates that had attacked K-2L. She had two objectives: 1) To eliminate the threat of Metroids, which the Pirates had brought to Zebes, and 2) To destroy the Mother Brain - the "mechanical life vein" and central computer of Zebes' ecosystem, which had been reprogrammed by the invading Space Pirates. Samus' success in this mission led her to untold wealth and fame, but also cemented her destiny to battle Metroid menace.

Afterward, Samus was sent to investigate a Pirate space station on which the pirates were studying phazon, a highly poisonous, mutagenic material. She destroyed the station and went to Tallon IV in pursuit of Meta Ridley, whom she spotted aboard the frigate. There she found that the planet had been damaged by phazon when a meteorite had struck it 20 years earlier. She soon destroyed Ridley and defeated the Metroid Prime. Samus's adventures were not over, however. After a short rest, she was once again asked by the Galactic Federation to locate Galactic Federation troopers on Aether. There she encountered the Metroid Prime once again, in the form of Dark Samus, and also defeated the Ing, saving Aether and the Luminoth.

Later, our heroine was sent to SR-388 to exterminate the remaining Metroids. She did so, but an Infant Metroid mistakenly took Samus for its mother which made it cooperative enough for Samus to take to the Federation research facility at Ceres. Moments after her departure she recieved a distress call. She returned to find the Ceres facility in ruins with the corpses of scientists littering the floor. She discovered the Metroid hatchling - in the clutches of her old enemy Ridley. After a furious battle Ridley left for Zebes and Samus pursued. It was there that she once again defeated Mother Brain, this time with the help of the hatchling (which died in the process).

Afterwards, Samus was sent, no doubt becuase of her superiority of the troopers, to SR-388 to collect subjects for the Biological Space Laboratories. Another disaster happened: becuase of the lack of Metroids, the X had spread, and Samus was infected by one. She barely survived; being saved by the DNA sample of the infant Metroid she had mothered a long time ago. She was then sent to a BSL Space Station to find out what had caused the explosion in the Quarantine Bay. There she learned of the SA-X, and once again forged contact with Adam Malkovich, her old C.O. What happened after Metroid Fusion remains a mystery.

Samus Aran can upgrade her Power Suit with various items, from such things as the Gravity Booster to the Super Missile.
