The Sandcanyon is a large room in the Agon Wastes of planet Aether. It appears in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.
Description[]
The Sandcanyon is a large, open-ended room with Kinetic Orb Cannons on both sides to provide transport. As its name implies, half of the room is made up of a carved curved canyon-side. The Map hologram of the room reflects this, with a massive, flat curving wall surrounding a cylinder in the center. Said cylinder represents a platform in the center of the Sandcanyon. It is unreachable unless Samus has the Screw Attack, as it sits in the middle of a massive pit between its doorway ledges. The center platform houses a large, decorative totem built into rock, which is partially composed of Denzium.
Samus can lay a Power Bomb here to destroy it. Consequently, this weakens the rock and pillar fatally, and in a cutscene, both dislodge and fall into the abyss below, their collision heard a second later. Using a Power Bomb reveals a Power Bomb Expansion for Samus to collect.
The Sandcanyon has no equivalent in Dark Aether.
