Screen-Shot Tool

Message indicating a screenshot has been taken.

The Screen-Shot Tool is an unlockable feature in the Bonus Gallery for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, New Play Control! Metroid Prime, New Play Control! Metroid Prime 2: Dark Echoes, and Metroid Prime Trilogy. Once "purchased" with Bonus Credits, the feature can be toggled on or off. When on, pressing "up" on the D-Pad takes a picture of the current screen (during gameplay, cutscenes, etc.) and sends it to the Wii Message Board.

Playing the game with widescreen or not at the time the Screen-Shot Tool is used will change the aspect ratio of the image sent. Unlocking this in Metroid Prime Trilogy requires having Credits from all three games, but also permits photos in all three games.

Even if unlocked and active, the Screen-Shot Tool cannot be used when playing in the Echoes multiplayer mode.

Trivia

  • Warnings are given in the three games of the Metroid Prime Trilogy when the player takes more than three photos, or takes multiple photos too quickly. The warning messages inform the player that taking too many screen-shots may fill up the Wii Message Board too quickly.
    • "Please wait 10 seconds before taking another screen shot."
    • "To make sure that the Wii Message Board does not fill too quickly, avoid taking a large number of Screen shots."
  • A Screen-Shot will be automatically taken during the Mission Final screen, whether or not the Screen-Shot Tool has been unlocked.
