There's a limited number of consecutive jumps you can make in Screw Attack mode, so go easy on the button presses when traveling great distances in an effort to get the most out of each jump. Striking enemies with the Screw Attack damages them. Performing a Screw Attack while facing and touching a wall executes a Wall Jump. Use the Wall Jump to travel great vertical distances.
TIP: While in Screw Attack mode, you won't take damage when in contact with enemies and certain energy fields. This is a good way to offset the damage incurred by charging attacks performed by some bosses."

"Samus balls up and spin into the air, striking anyone caught in her tracks multiple times. You can control this a bit to the left or right. This attack has some invincibility on startup."

Recovery (Samus)[]

"Samus's main recovery option is her Screw Attack for vertical recovery. You can aim this a little to the left or right during the input of the attack. Horizontally, Samus doesn't have a lot of options outside of her grapple. Use the grapple when off-stage to catch onto the edge, and press Up to pull yourself back up. Additionally, you can use Samus’s Bomb to stall temporarily. Moving left or right while dropping bombs will help keep you afloat awhile. This is especially useful when other opponents are off-stage with you."

THE ARMORY - POWER SUIT UPGRADES (p. 13)
SCREW ATTACK
"The Screw Attack has long marked Samus' adventures as the upgrade necessary to reach maximum item discovery. The Screw Attack doesn't add much in the way of functionality, but what it does add is still incredibly useful. Not only can Samus barrel through enemies during her Space Jumps, she can also cut through a myriad of Block types like butter. To top it off, you can jump worry-free, as Samus is nearly invulnerable to normal enemies so long as she continues to Screw Attack. This upgrade truly is a cut above the rest."
WALKTHROUGH - AREA 5 (p. 148)
WHAT'S A SCREW ATTACK?
"The Screw Attack isn't so much a new ability as an update to one of your current Power Suit upgrades. Now when you perform a Spin Jump, a swirling sphere of energy engulfs you, dealing damage to almost any enemy it touches. It also allows you to destroy any Screw Attack Blocks you encounter by simply Spin Jumping through them. You're nearly invincible while performing the Screw Attack, so use it often and use it well."

Tips (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)[]

This tip is identical for both Samus and Dark Samus.
