Seaslugs[1] are a non-hostile aquatic bioform on ZDR in Metroid Dread. They are visible from a distance in Burenia, specifically in three rooms in the center of the area. The first room contains a green Teleportal; the second room, adjacent to it, features an optional battle with Twin Robot Chozo Soldiers; and the third room is the "blue gate shaft". In these rooms, Seaslugs swim through water behind glass windows in the background alongside larger fish. It is not possible to access the areas behind the windows, or to damage the creatures. Despite their name, they more closely resemble rays than slugs due to their slender bodies and large pectoral fins on either side of their heads.
It is unknown whether Seaslugs eventually fall prey to the X Parasites; although ADAM instructs Samus to assume all life on ZDR becomes infected, the X have been known to ignore potentially weak bioforms as hosts, and Seaslugs do not behave or appear differently after the X are released.
