A Sector Main Hall is a large room found onboard the B.S.L. Research station. They are located within each of the six main Sectors and each serves as the primary hub room for the Sector it is housed in.
Description[]
A Main Hall is a large type of room onboard the B.S.L. Research Station, apparently built for human researchers as opposed to serving as a creature habitat. There are six in total, one for each of the Sectors available to explore, and each one has a distinct wall color matching the Sector it is housed in. These rooms also have glass windows in the background, with liquid and bubbles behind the glass, possibly for research purposes. Closer to the background are computer-like terminals, but Samus never interacts with these. Some Main Halls contain platforms to land on to reach higher elevations. Worthy of note is that each Main Hall has a series or Doors that connect to not only other areas of the Sector's facilities but also into areas leading into other Sectors, primarily towards a transport tube. One Door always leads directly into a row of Stations, which also connect a Sector's Elevator to the Main Deck. Given their importance and design, it seems likely that the researchers on-board used these rooms as a primary staging point for their research into not only a respective Sector but neighboring Sectors as well.
These important rooms are explored by Samus as she investigates the B.S.L. Research Station. At the start of her operation, it is believed that all of the Main research halls were secure from the X Parasites on-board, with some Sectors being securely locked behind colored hatches. However as Samus explores the Main Deck and defeats the X gathering in the upper-right area, the X Parasites ate able to kill the researchers in Sector 1 (SRX)'s Main Hall and infest the atmospheric stabilizers housed deep inside the Sector. With their massive numbers, the X Parasites soon infest the neighboring Sector 2 (TRO)'s Main Hall and Sector as well. As Samus unlocks the Level 1 and Level 2 Security Rooms during her exploration, other Main Halls soon become infested with X Parasites.
There is a total of Six Main Halls onboard the Research Station. These are:
Image | Description |
---|---|
Sector 1 (SRX) Colored Amber in appearance, to match with the general rocky terrain of planet SR388 itself. This research hall contains the corpses of deceased researchers who perished during the recent X Parasite infestation. Connecting rooms include a hall leading into the Sector's main rooms, and two colored hatches into small rooms containing hidden areas leading to transport tubes. The Blue Hatch also leads into a lava-filled room, which may be used as an exit room after late-game visits to Sector 1. | |
Sector 2 (TRO) Colored green to match the tropical environment this room is housed in. The Main Hall contains multiple entryways into Sector itself, with one room housing both a Missile Tank and a hidden entrance into its neighboring Sector and another room leading down a hall into a room housing another hidden Tubeway. A Blue Hatch in this room leads to a small room hiding a Missile Tank. One of the walls near the top portion of this room is made up of four Bomb Blocks, allowing for shortcuts between higher floored rooms once Bombs, Power Bombs, the Speed Booster, or the Screw Attack is obtained.

Sector 3 (PYR) This Main Hall is colored Red, and is the largest Main Hall to exist on-board the B.S.L. station. Connecting rooms include a superheated hall into a room containing an Energy Tank and a hidden path into a Transport Tube, and a hallway leading towards the Level 2 Security Room. The bottom-right door leads further into Sector 3. In the top-right of this Main Hall lies a small tunnel leading into Sector 3's long halls towards a neighboring Transport Tube, but this tunnel is a one-way exit until Samus obtains the Screw Attack to re-enter it. This Main Hall has multiple walls and destructible floors to bypass in order to traverse further within the Sector. This Main Hall appears ideal to use in conjunction with the Speed Booster. A useful shortcut into the bottom floors from the top is if Samus activates her Speed Booster within the connection Station/Elevator Halls prior to entering this room. If she keeps running without stopping, she will bust through some destructible walls made of Boost Blocks and land onto Pit Blocks taking her directly downward to the lower floor. The Speed Booster can also be used on the bottom floors to access the adjacent bottom-left hidden hall. Samus passes through this Main Hall multiple times; the first few times is during her mission to obtain the Super Missile data, but this requires her to locate and unlock the Level 2 Security Hatches. This room is initially void of all life when Samus first arrived, but once she accesses the Security Room, this Main Hall quickly becomes overrun by X infected enemies such as Sidehoppers and Gerutas. After leaving Sector 3 (PYR), she later returns to this room on her way to restore the cooling unit at the Main Boiler. After leaving Sector 3 a second time, this room no longer needs to be visited unless optionally searching for 100% items. | |
Sector 4 (AQA) This Main Hall is colored Blue, with only three doors connecting to Sector 4's aquarium levels, the Sector's underwater sections, and its Elevator checkpoint stations. This Main Hall appears to be the one with the most differences out of all the Main Halls explored. First off, it is the only Main Hall which lacks any enemies at all. Secondly, it is the only Main Hall that has its neighboring Elevator stations located in the top-right corner of the room. Finally, this is the only Main Hall where Samus is required to access all of its Doors; the first two mandatory visits past this room are during her mission to terminate Serris, while her next visit in this room is during her escape out of the underwater portions of Sector 4, after she obtains the Gravity Suit. Samus can optionally pass through this Main Hall on her way to hear the Secret Message. | |
Sector 5 (ARC) A tall Sector bearing the color of cyan. This room connects twice to a large storage hall containing the Nightmare specimen. A third door, initially locked by a Level 3 Security hatch, contains a small room with a Missile Tank, but also leads to a hidden Transport Tube behind a large wall of Screw Attack Blocks. Upon first visits, only a few Zeelas are present, with Wavers present if Samus fails to absorb any free-roaming X Parasites. Since she cannot access any of the Level 3 Security hatches during this time, she must locate a hidden entrance into Sector 5 by destroying a Missile Block guarded by a Zeela. When Samus returns here after obtaining the Ice Missile data, this Main Hall will have more Zeela present. | |
Sector 6 (NOC) A wide Main research hall bearing the color Violet. This room always contains Menus upon every visit as Samus passes through this room into the main rooms of this Sector. Zozoros are also present, albeit stationed out of the way in the hidden bottom floor of this room. Besides the Door leading into the Station hall and elevator, this room contains one visible door directly into the main portions of the Sector, with another door hidden underneath the Station doors via a wall of Screw Attack blocks. This hidden Door leads directly into a transport tube to a neighboring Sector, with the other neighboring transport tube hidden further past the first few NOC rooms. Exclusive to this Main Hall is a Missile Tank located in the bottom floor of this room. To access it, Samus would need to destroy a hidden Bomb block in the neighboring NOC room, then use her Morph Ball to enter this room's hidden storage area containing the Expansion. |
Trivia[]
- The Reactor Silo resembles a Sector Main Hall, as the large room contains many doorways leading to various areas of the Station, such as further portions of its respective area, the Auxiliary Power Station, a hall leading into the Docking Bays, and a tunnel leading into Sector 2 (TRO).
- Unlike a Main Hall, the Reactor Silo only contains open doorways, and none of them connect directly to a series of Stations (though one Doorway leads to a Navigation Room close by, which is only two rooms away).
