The Shirk is a unique robotic enemy, with only a single specimen found in Phase 4.

Description

The Shirk seems to be a security bot, presumably designed by the Chozo, but has since gone rogue. It slowly hovers through the air, and is very similar in design to the Gunzoo mechanisms. It patrols the room where a pair of Automs are at work.

The Shirk can be found hovering in place, slightly rising and falling as it does so. When it spots an intruder such as Samus Aran, it begins to move through the air in a predetermined diamond-shaped path. It moves in a counterclockwise direction and will not break from this pattern. This robotic enemy uses its sharp nails as crushing melee weapons, ramming into Samus if she enters its flight path. The Shirk will resume hovering in place if the intruder leaves, but Samus can just as easily destroy it with a single missile.
