The Slaaga[1] is a species found on ZDR in Metroid Dread.
Description[]
A Slaaga is purple in color and has scaly skin, with scales lining its back similar to a stegosaurus. It has five yellow eyes and a yellow underbelly, along with a short tail and claws. It stores acid in a yellow hump on its back, and then spits the acid glob at its foes.
When Samus Aran battles Slaagas, their acid blasts can be avoided by jumping or using Flash Shift. Samus can kill them most easily with the Melee Counter when they prepare to spit acid, but they can also be killed with regular Beam shots and Missiles as with other enemies.
Although Slaagas later fall victim to the X Parasites, their appearance and behavior do not change, apart from them reverting to X when killed. X Parasites also combine the DNA of Slaagas and Nailongs to create a hybrid creature called Nailugger, which features the Slaaga's scales and acid.

- Internally, the Slaaga is called Slugger. This is referenced by the internal name of Nailugger, which is a portmanteau of "Slugger" and "Nailong".
