The Slidle[1] is a species of burrowing creatures found on ZDR.
Description[]
The Slidle has a round body with rough green skin, six bright green eyes, and large mandibles. Slidles live in sickly green burrows located in the terrain of Dairon, Burenia, and Ghavoran, and a splash of green fluid will indicate when they are about to emerge from their burrows. They appear to be amphibious, able to survive both on land and underwater.
Slidles behave most similarly to the green Glow Flies in Metroid: Samus Returns; they emerge from one nest and crawl along floors, walls, and ceilings until they safely enter another nest. They respawn endlessly, no matter how many of them are killed. Unlike Glow Flies, which only appear one at a time, Slidles may travel in small groups and form a line. While they are not particularly hostile and ignore Samus Aran, they can pose a hazard in narrow Morph Ball tunnels, where Samus can only use Bombs to defend herself against them. Therefore, multiple puzzles require Samus navigating these narrow passageways swarming with Slidles, requiring careful timing to avoid taking damage from them.
Another similarly behaved species, Caterzilla, can be found in Artaria and Cataris.
X Parasite-infected Slidles can be found in Elun. After the X are released from quarantine, all Slidles across ZDR become infected by the X. This does not change their appearance or behavior, aside from releasing X Parasites upon their demise.
