Small crates[1] are objects found in Metroid: Other M. They will be lit a corresponding color matching the pickup inside: blue if it has a Missile Tank, red if it has an Energy Part, yellow for holding a Accel Charge, and purple for E-Recovery Tank. Similar to Galactic Federation Heavy Crates, these small crates possess some durability, absorbing Beam shots. Samus must destroy them with Bombs, Missiles or the Screw Attack to uncover their contents.
Unlike the stands that hold upgrades normally, these crates will prevent power up detections from appearing on Samus' radar. However, their hidden location will be compromised after MB's defeat. In the Materials Storehouse, there are several that are on top of the larger crates, meant to confuse Samus. These have their visor covers down, likely to indicate that no item is present inside them.
Trivia[]
- An extremely similar-looking object can be seen in one location onboard the Biologic Space Laboratories research station in Metroid Fusion. It holds a Power Bomb Expansion, making it seem possible this could be a small crate.
