Stephen Ezra Hughes (born January 9, 1958) is an American voice actor and director, based in Madrid, Spain. He directed voice acting for Metroid Dread[1], and also provided the voice of Quiet Robe[2].
Hughes has collaborated with MercurySteam in the past, voicing a Golden Paladin in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and Konstantin in Spacelords. His other work has been in films such as Justin and the Knights of Valour and Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds.
Hughes gave an interview to Kiwi Talkz in 2024 about his work on Dread.
Metroid Dread[]
As Quiet Robe, Hughes spoke entirely in the fictional Chozo language. While he was the voice director, he commented that Samus Aran's voice actress, Nikki García, needed no direction with her one line. She recorded it in a single take, which was the take used in Dread. They were given their lines in both English and Chozo to give them context for what they were recording.[3]
A transcription of Hughes' dialogue can be read here.
