Subventilation Shaft Section A is part of a network of ventilation shafts on Deck Beta on the Frigate Orpheon in Metroid Prime that Samus travels through after the Parasite Queen battle in order to escape the vessel. This section contains a swarm of Parasites that is most easily avoided using the Morph Ball. The room is inaccessible after the frigate crashes, due to the fact that the door to it in Biotech Research Area 1 is powerless and cannot be reactivated. It cannot be accessed by Subventilation Shaft Section B either, because the door on the other end of that room (connecting it to Cargo Freight Lift to Deck Gamma) is also powerless and cannot be reactivated.

- Oddly, Subventilation Shaft Section A is known internally as 00f_intro_begin, similarly to 00g_intro_begin. Further confusing matters is the fact that Subventilation Shaft Section B is known internally as 00F_intro_end.
