Super Kihunters[1] are variations of the Kihunters found throughout Metroid: Other M.
Description[]
They are blue in color with crystalline growths on their heads and pink wings. They seem to be the next stage of the Kihunters' life cycle, as they replace most normal variants in the latter parts of the game.
Super Kihunters attack by grabbing Samus and then draining her energy. The Super Kihunters are shown to be much more resistent to Samus's weaponry, as even the Charged Plasma Beam will not kill them instantly. Missiles, Super Missiles, Seeker Missiles, Power Bombs and the Screw Attack can be used to kill them, with the latter two attacks being the most effective.
Super Kihunters are currently seen only within the BOTTLE SHIP and nowhere else. This suggests that either Samus had never before encountered Kihunters who had reached this stage of their life cycle, or they are an unnatural form resulting from experiments and research performed by the scientists onboard the ship. It may strongly be considered the latter, as Samus first begins to encounter a large swarm of these creatures after she leaves the Bioweapon Research Center. It is possible they were released by MB in an attempt to thwart Samus. During the post-game scenario, Super Kihunters are also shown to inhabit the Main Sector, inside the BOTTLE SHIP Residential Area. As Samus treks through the "Path of perils", a large swarm of Super Kihunters is summoned by Phantoon.

Metroid: Other M Premiere Edition[]
- Mid-Level Enemies (p. 10)
- Kihunters and Super Kihunters
- "The Kihunters, led by the King Kihunter, are a race of humanoid bugs. They travel in large groups and can overwhelm you with their numbers if you're not careful. They never set foot on the ground, by choice, so always keep an eye to the sky to make sure you can spot them. Bring them down with a few Charge Beam blasts, or use Lethal Strike moves to tear off their wings. Once you've grounded them, finish them off with Lethal Strikes, missiles, or Charge Beam shots. The only difference between Kihunters and Super Kihunters is the Super Kihunter's ability to withstand a bit more damage."

"Kihunters, which look like flying ants, appear in groups. Despite losing wings when injured, they will crawl on the ground toward Samus."
Trivia[]
- Super Kihunters emit a chirping, cricket-like cry, unlike the screeching sound made by normal Kihunters.
