Translation/Localization[]
The usual disclaimer: I don't speak a word of Japanese and I'm basing this off my limited use of Google Translate.
Anyways, I noticed that Brigandia and Outlaw seem to be "localized" names by Capcom at Metroid Database. I assume that Capcom saw the actual Japanese names (Muhōn and Autsūro, which don't have direct English translations), noted their similarities to Japanese words for brigand, outlaw, etc. (Muhōmono and Autorō, respectively), and used them as the basis of their translation. But if that's true, then these aren't direct translations of the original names, and are more akin to fanmade localizations. Therefore, would it be better to rename these articles to romanizations of the Japanese names, since that would be more official? --PeabodySam (talk) 00:52, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- No, because nobody will think to look for them that way. Imo, it's better to add a disclaimer explaining the origins of the word. RoyboyX(complaints/records) 01:23, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
