Well that is interesting... The upgrade is called the Grappling Beam in Super Metroid and in Melee, but the Grapple Beam in the Prime series. Does anyone else come to the conclusion that the two versions have different names? ChozoBoy [ADMIN] (Talk/Contribs) 08:42, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

There so similar, it's hardly noteworthy. I'm ~Crystal_Lucario~ And I approve this message. 10:43, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, but it is interesting that the name change occured when the beam was moved, and that I haven't seen anyone else point this out before. ChozoBoy [ADMIN] (Talk/Contribs) 10:49, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Grapple Beam Glitch[]

I want to add a part about the Grapple Beam glitch in MP2, can someone identify the room in the beginning of this video? [1] --RoyboyX 00:17, December 5, 2009 (UTC)

Haha that was cool. It's the dark world version of the Vault (Sanctuary Fortress) (where you get the Screw Attack. I don't know the name though. HellKaiserryo12[ADMIN] (TalkContribs) 12:28, December 5, 2009 (UTC)

Merge articles?[]

I really don't see a point in having separate articles for the Grapple Beam and the Grappling Beam when they're essentially the exact same item. From the discussion above, I can see that they were originally separated because one was launched from Samus' hand while the other from her arm cannon; however, in Metroid: Other M, she launches the Grapple Beam from her arm cannon. Also of note is that before the Prime series, the Grappling Beam had only appeared in Super Metroid; however, its subsequent appearance in Other M as the Grapple Beam means that that name has been retconned. Already been brought up here: http://metroid.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:X-Ray_Scope Of course, no one responded there either. Ki Hunters and Key Hunters are clearly the same thing, and get merged. Why not the same here? The Scopes are a bit of a different story as they could be argued to be more differentiated, but the grapples... yeah, not so much. Especially thanks to Corruption with its Grapple Lasso. Grapples is grapples is grapples, right?Dazuro 03:50, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

Why did they even get split in the first place? The similarity in name, function and design are too much alike to be kept on seperate pages. And yes there are differences, but the Beams, Pirates, Metroids and Samus herself are clearly all references to the same thing. I mean, we don't have seperate articles for the "Spazer Lazer Beam" and the "Spazer Beam" do we? (I just know some idiot is off to split those pages as we speak.)204.211.185.107 14:28, August 20, 2010 (UTC)
