Viridi's Humming[]
I previously removed Viridi's humming from this page because it doesn't really match up with the Item Acquisition Fanfare:
(For this explanation, I'll be using simplified musical terminology. Basically, the notes of a scale from lowest to highest are "Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti", and since the scale loops every eight notes, there's also a "Ti" below "Do" and so on and so forth.)
- The fanfare opens with a melody that I'll describe as "Do Re Mi Fa So Mi". This is the part that everyone thinks Viridi is humming. However...
- Viridi's humming is "Do Mi So Fa". Even if we were to fudge that "Fa" to a "Mi", she'd be cutting out a third of the notes ("Do [...] Mi [...] So Mi") and putting elongated emphasis on that "Mi" which is not emphasized in the fanfare (which would be the musical equivalent of pronouncing "vegetable" like "table" and then saying they sound the same).
- Viridi then immediately follows up with another identical "Do Mi So Fa" when she sings "I can't hear you!", whereas the fanfare would continue with "Do Mi La Fa Re Ti Do". The "Do Mi" in the fanfare is also the end of the first musical phrase rather than the start of a second, like in Viridi's singing.
- TL;DR: the fanfare is "Do Re Mi Fa / So Mi Do Mi / La Fa Re Ti Do" and Viridi's humming/singing is "Do Mi So Fa / Do Mi So Fa".
Therefore, I'm assuming that any perceived similarities are just coincidental/confirmation bias, and Viridi is just humming a stock "nah nah can't hear you" type tune not meant to resemble Metroid.
Since I removed this previously, and I have too much to say to fit in an edit summary, that's why I'm bringing it here to the talk page instead of immediately removing it a second time. --PeabodySam (talk) 15:05, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
I apologize that my edit led you to write such an extensive post, but I very much appreciate the explanation! Do we remove the trivia piece altogether once more, or should an edit be added that mentions Viridi's tune causes a pareidolia effect? --Latinlingo (talk) 08:09, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
